Blog Questions:

Hi! I LOVE your website and really enjoyed your post on the red nail polishes. I'm looking for OPI's Vampire State Building and can't seem to find it online. Do you know where I can buy it? (I'm near Los Angeles so if it's not online I can go to a store).
Maribel

Can anyone help Maribel out? (Update: Melanie answered in the comments)

Anon asks:

Did anyone ever figure out the song with the lyrics e lyrics are "and I don't want to be forgotten and I don't want to be reminded" i am looking for it

Anon is wanting to know about a song featured in a Marie Antoinette trailer.

If you know let her know the answer in the comments. (Update: Sara answered in the comments)

Slau asked:

What do those Stacked Style fragrances smell like?

Rococo Rouge: Orange, citron, melon, jasmine, cocoa, violet, rose, marigold, coriander, musk. This one is definitely gourmand. The cocoa and orange dominate.

Baroque Bleu: Green grass, almond, rhubarb, rose, Tahitian gardenia, tuberose, muguet, coconut, neroli, tonka bean, amber, precious woods, musk. This one is more fruity-floral and the gardenia dominates, nice woodsy drydown.

Enchantress: Lime, orange, strawberry, apple, pink pepper, jasmine, violet, orange flower, sandalwood, musk. This one is a more sophisticated scent that seems more florally than fruity. It's spicy with the pepper, more woodsy than musky.

Empress Lily: Jasmine water lily, lychee, Asian pear, heliotrope, orris, jasmine, muguet, vanilla, amber musk, exotic woods. Very lily-based, lots of depth with the vanilla and woods.

Carnival Crush: Peaches, plums, granny-smith apples, jasmine, green grass, Bulgarian rose, sugar, sheer musk. Juicy and sparkling! Sweet, summery, almost edible! The plum and the rose keep it from being too fruity.

Annie,

Did you get your SL Fumerie Turque at Barney's or where? I heard that it is making a brief appearance in the export line, but not sure where to get some from. Along with Chergui, it is my fav. SL frag. Thanks, CIndyN

Barneys is the only place you can get it in the US as of right now.

Not a question:

From Grace:

I have a recommendation for a possible feature for your site... http://www.yourperfumegift.com/ is a nifty little website -- you enter a few things about yourself and choose from several different sensorial images. When you are done, they will select three perfumes that are a good fit for you, and send them in a box featuring the images you chose--so essentially you get custom art and 3 fragrance samples that fit your personality--for free! A great way to find the right perfume for you or for whomever you are shopping for. :)

Very cool!

The photo is from a movie starring Rock Hudson and Doris Day, either Pillow Talk or Send Me No Flowers.

I'll take the first one. Vampire State Building was part of the OPI New York City collection from the early 2000s. This was an impressive collection with some memorable dark colors, the hardest to find now being Vampire State Building. Your best bet is to start combing the "dusties", which are the older nail salons. Quite often they will have cases of OPI polishes that are actual "dusty" from sitting on their selves since their initial release. Always remember to roll the polish in your palms and then open the cap and make sure the brush is still attached before buying. Sometimes, the brush bristles will have fallen out over time. But if the polish looks smoth and creamy from the rolling, then you should be fine. Vampire State Building also appears on eBay. NYPD Beet is my favorite from that collection. Marooned on the Subway and Orange You From New York are also great shades. If you absolutely cannot find it, try IsaDora Midnight Red (Walgreen's). I like it better.
