For the Ohio girls:

Todays the day the H&M is scheduled to open at Beachwood Mall. I have been praying to the shopping gods for this to happen for several years.

They have been kind enough to bless me with a store of my own. Isn't she a beauty?

I have a feeling I am going to love her.

Tell me how you feel about H&M. Have you ever stood in line waiting for the latest designer collection or the "it" coat?

Which designer would you like to see do a collection?

I was living in Philadelphia when the first H & M in that city opened. It was a frenzy!

Now I'm in NYC, and I'm a regular H & M-er. It's almost like a talent that you can hone: finding the things you like and actually would wear among all the too-trendy, slightly cheap items, and even being able to assess their fit without trying them on, in order to avoid the fitting-room lines. I'm getting better and better at that last effort. Right now I'm wearing a very cute black lace baby-doll dress that I sized and bought by sight alone. :)

Congratulations on your new shopping venue!

My DH does not like for me to shop there.
He says they are full of "disposable clothes".

I still go there --however I do not think I would ever wait in a long line there.

Zac Posen and Prada for sure. I would say Proenza Schouler but Target has them in January. Yay! I have been praying for some time for an H & M somewhere near my Portland, OR home. I have been hearing rumors about a Seattle location, I hope its true! Congrats on getting one near you!

Yay I'm happy for you! Some of the H&M clothes are great--I have two blazers from there that I dearly love. On the other hand, some of the clothing does not seem very well made.

Even though the sizes have been "Americanized," we've noticed that you may need to buy a size or two larger than you are used to. No, it doesn't mean that you've gained weight--it just means that many US stores call something a "4" when its really a "6" or "8." Well worth your time trying on the clothing before you buy.

I never use anything I have bought from there. Seriously. Even the cute little polka dot umbrella is crap and won't go back down. Just shop wisely and don't get caught up in the prices. One or two trend pieces per season = OK. Two bags of H&M clothes = wear once and toss, donate, use for cleaning rags, etc.

This is amazing news, but I had no idea that it was opening today. I got some great sweaters and shimmery lip gloss at an H&M in Paris last Oct. The store there is even crazier than the one in Manhattan - you have to push your way through the crowds but it's so worth it.

It was great news when H&M opened in Zaragoza (my hometown in Spain). Enjoy it in Ohio!

Lucky you!!! I have yearned for an H&M for ages but despite living in three different states in the last few years, I *still* haven't been blessed. LOL

Their kids clothes are the best.

Congratulations! Living in Norway, I've had access to H&M all my life, at every shopping mall in every town - and it's absolutely a great place to find designer knock-offs at affordable prices. It's a nice way to be fashionable on a budget.

Love your blog! :)

Wow I am from the Ohio area currently living in DC and I have truly fallen in love with H&M. I cannot wait to go home so I can go to Beachwood mall since I'm too scared to drive to the one out here!

H and M is opening on December 7, not today, December 2, 2006 as some stated/

Honestly, I just don't get the love. We've had H&M over here for about 20 years and it is so poor quality.
