Shopping with Cavewoman Adventure 2-26-2005:Major Damage at both MAC counters along with some scent stories.....
Cavewoman and I finally were able to leave ytown and get some shopping time in Cleveland. Our first stop was at Anthropologie. They had their new spring line showcased and I was not interested in any of these pieces in real life. I did love the one party dress that is teal and midnight blue. It was the best piece in the store. The "cucumber sweater" was on sale but it looks horrible on. No wonder there were 3 or 4 on the rack. Cavewoman tried on a great coat but the fit was poor. There were 10 of those coats on the rack. They will have to mark that down more for it to start get any interest. I end up buying some Voluspa frgarnces. These scents are great and the prices can not be beat. I repurchased the Linden Blonde Tabac and the sweet Mignonette. Do not try the Coco one. It is foul and will make you dry heave. I did not spy any Nanette Lepore pieces while there. We left and made our way to the infamous T J Maxx. It was a bust for me but cavewoman found some lovely sweaters. I did find the famous bergdorf pieces mixed in the racks. The velvet Marc Jacobs jacket is still there along with the Valentino gown. There was a gaggle of Armani pieces along with an Escada gown that had clearly seen better days. They had several boxes of the Paula Dorf Zita perfume. This really is a great fresh rose scent.
After T J Maxx we went to Beachwood Mall. We started at Nordstorm first. Cavewoman and I did some major damage at the MAC counter. I purchased a lot of shadows. My haul was:
Greensmoke(this might be my new favorite green replacing my previous love for Nars Fiji)
Sumptous olive
Goldmine
Gorgeous Gold(a gold with a greenish base)
Honey Lust
Filament
Naked Lunch
Moth Brown(a lovely blue based gray brown--it is a limited edition)
and the surprises of Aquadisiac(a shimmery teal),Metamorph(a light greenish yellow) and Pink Papillion.
I also grabbed the new Madame B lipstick(a beautiful pink) and a MAC paint(I forget the name). I also purchased a lovely YSL Limited edition called Roses Enchantees. We were able to test the new Angel fragrances. They are winners. I love Angel but cavewoman hates it. We were both early fans of all the three scents. The violet one is the best with the lily coming in second. Cavewoman felt the peony turned green way to early in the drydown. They are worth sniffing. I ended up purchasing Une Fleur de Chanel at SAKS. We had a great time talking like Karl Lagerfeld to the sales associate. I spotted a great LV bag and got to see the Guinevere(small version) purse. It was alright. I liked the Carmen bag better.
It was a great day and can not wait to see Miss Cavewoman's version. Have a great Sunday!!!

Bloody good time! I miss shopping with you ladies. I won't be able to afford much in April after that bank-busting wedding, but I'll see you and John Henry at Tak!
By the way, new Angel fragrances, you say? Intriguing. I still really admire Angel, even if I find it utterly unwearable. I'll sniff that out.
Cheers,
T.
There is little to add to Annie's report, other than my list of goodies:
MAC lipsticks in MadameB, DaintyCake, NYApple (I cannot WAIT to try this one because it is totally NOT anything I have ever worn, it is a deep red shimmer), Craving, Lustering and True Couture. Blushes in cream form are Posey and Ladyblush. Eye colors (out of my rut, Robin dear!) are Moth Brown, Pollen, Shale, Angelcake (it is coral!) and Filament. I still have a list of more to try next time. Powder blush in Foolish Me, it is a bright orange with shimmer and I think I am going to look like a summer sunshine babe in this one. It will be perfect with DaintyCake.
We had a wonderful time as we always do. Annie is the perfect shopping companion and she is a shark at TJMaxx. That girl has talent! Of course I was in row three of the bags and she had already cased half of the store!
Tania, I look forward to seeing you at Tak, where we shall partake of all things tasty and revel in the glow of John Henry!
The Angel fragrances were the nicest surprise of the day in a day when the only other new thing I smelled was Flowerbomb (me no likey). Une Fleur De Chanel is beautiful. The SA at Chanel and I did our best uber-French accents to describe the thin and mean Lagerfeld! We think he's mean because he doesn't eat anymore.
I know that would make ME mean!
All in all a perfectly lovely day, and I can't wait to play with my new makeup colors as if I were ten years old again with a brand new box of Crayola!
Wow, fabulous hauls ladies! You guys did the MAC counter proud. Patti, I do have Shale, it is a gorgeous color. Moth Brown & Pollen: not on my skin coloring :-)
Glad to hear the new Angel scents are worth trying, I will look for them.
Robin, I was skeptical about Moth Brown and Pollen, too. I always wear cool colors and have ventured out to some browns and corals. I have to be careful that there isn't too much yellow in them. Moth Brown is a very cool, almost blue-based brown if that makes any sense. It goes on beautifully. Annie and I were both surprised at this one. I do not have even one brown shadow in my huge collection, and I had searched for the perfect one to try, and this is it.
We are due for a major snow today here in Northeast Ohio, so I have the day to stay home and play with some new looks!
Hmmm...a brown with blue undertones I might be able to pull off. I will have to go look at it :-)
I'm so envious that the two of you get to shop together! What a blast! I hope Sephora.com had YSL Roses Enchantees in stock soon! I've had my eye on that one and happen to have a little bit of credit there.
Hey Best Friend!
Rose Enchantees is a lovely fresh rose. The price just can not be beat. I love a great fragrance for around $40.
Tbone: The violet Angel is really good. There is a smidge of angel in there but it is just so subtle. The violet is very light and not powdery. I really think these are going to do well. I think the scents are going to surprise the Angel haters.
Robin-
Test Moth Brown before you purchase. The makeupboard is mixed on it. I think it fantastic and I am going to buy a "backup" since it is a limited edition. It is like a slate blue based gray with just a hint of brown. Unique and stunning. Tons of lippies for this one!
Melvis:
The MAC sales girl was lovely. She looked EXACTLY like Princess Charlotte. No exaggeration.
She saw that we had lists and knew it would be a fun sale. She was very helpful and sold me on an aqua eyeshadow. You know she had to be good.
I find that the Nordstorm MAC clerks are always sweeter and more helpful than Saks. Our local Saks is awful.
Annie, I can't wait for another trip to the MAC counter with you! I am trying like crazy to arrange a swap for Girl Next Door lipstick on MUA.
I love Moth Brown too!
A backup is a good idea.
