July 1st is going to be Jean Shrimpton day at Blogdorf Goodman. The Shrimp will be followed by posts and pictures of Marianne Faithful, Ursula Andress, Jane Asher, Diana Rigg, Peggy Moffitt and many others. The theme is 60's icons. I hope to follow that with a week of fashion muses/editors(Tina Chow,Grace Coddington),rock stars(Siousxie Sioux) and fashion in films.

Because I am an 80s music hag, i don't think I can contain my excitment at the prospect of Siouxsie Sioux day.
omg. Jean Shrimpton. omg.
My first true 'couture' pattern, when I was learning to sew, was a Mary Quant black velvet shift dress with white crepe ruffled collar and cuffs. I think that Shrimp was the model for the photo on the pattern envelope. It was a revolutionary time for fashion, those 60s. You should have been there! LOL!!!
The Siren is right there with you, kiddo! Check out the site. I love this picture, I haven't seen it before. The Shrimp was famous for her hair. Wendy Wasserstein had a piece once about how seeing the Shrimp on the cover of a magazine with dead-straight hair led to a decades-long, fruitless attempt to tame her own mop.
Yep, I think she is my all-time favorite model, too. No other model seems to quite match her glowing beauty, that seems to radiate from the inside out. Yet, she was also the perfect sixties model: totally happening, beautiful and "groovy" to the core.
I understand she owns a bed and breakfast in the south of England and has put on weight. Oh well...more power to her!
Hey best friend, you rock!
J: I have been collecting some great photographs of Siouxsie this week. I have one that looks exactly like cavewoman. EXACTLY!
