Nena Von Schlebrugge. She is the mother to Uma Thurman and was married to Timothy Leary in the 60's. She was stunning. Uma did not fall far from the tree. (divasthesite.com) Posted by Picasa

I had no idea Uma's mom was a fashion icon as well. She is stunning, and whippet-thin too. In this picture she looks to be a greater beauty than her daughter.

I think Uma comes from a long line of beauties. According to Vanity Fair her grandmother(some type of royal) was a stunner. There is supposed to be a great statue of her in a square in Europe. I think I might still have that Vanity Fair somewhere. Anyway...I just love the fact that Uma's mother took one look at Bob Thurman and just left Timothy Leary in the dust. She just loved him instantly. Very romantic. Leary was a gentlemen and ended up being Uma's godfather. She never bragged about it liked Winona. LOL

If you rent the recent DVD edition of Ciao Manhattan, the famous Edie Sedgwick film, you can see footage of Uma's mom and dad in the outtakes.

Uma's mom was gorgeous and hip and there was a subplot that centered on her that was supposed to be in the film. All her footage was dropped because it didn't fit in to the final concept.
