Blogdorf Goodman is a mishmash of beauty product reviews, musings on fashion and swooning over fragrances.

The picture that started it all: The new look was launched in 1947 by Christian Dior. Dior's dresses cost a small fortune and used yards of material. His first collection was embraced by the fashionistas and detested by the general public. The new look was characterized by narrow shoulders, waists boned in, breasts uplifted and pushed out and calf length full skirts. One Dior client stated that "it was the most amazing dress I have ever seen. I can't walk, eat or sit down". Today John Galliano continues this tradition. Galliano creates breathtaking, extravagant and exquisite pieces of art. This week I am going to feature more Galliano on this blog plus Jean Paul Gaultier and Christian Lacroix's Haute Couture collections. Christian Lacroix was the best collection of the season. Each and every dress was stunning and wearable. He deserved his standing ovation.

Blog News:
Next week's theme at Blogdorf Goodman will be female rockstars. I will start out with Siouxsie Sioux. I got sidetracked by fall collections being released, the haute couture shows and my NYC trip. I still plan to do a week of fashion muses and editors. I finished my NYC trip recap and hope to post this soon. My friend Christine has created a new template for the blog so look for a makeover in the next week. I also hope to catch up on my emails and write friends who I have not been in touch with. I am surprised that all of you put up with me!!!

I love that picture! Mattel came out with a Christian Dior Barbie years ago and it's an exact copy of that picture.

Many thanks for the compliments on the blog design. I recently updated mine (As the Clever Crow Flies), and I thought that maybe Ann would like a "look of her own." She deserved it for all of her hard work!

I too, love Christian Dior's New Look.

Maybe today I'll go by the moniker "Christine Dior," in regards to my own contributed New Look (which is not nearly as fab as the original).

:)

Thanks everyone!
It is all thanks to my friend Christine(cerys). We met in 7th grade at an event called History Day. We were both eyeing each others Duran Duran pins. I believe we were wearing around a dozen on our shirts. That was the style back then.
