I love when you do this--show the theme. It's so art-history-major.

D: Your blog is amazing.
I love that Gene picture. Looking forward to an update. You have the best pictures.

T: That cracked me up.
Its from when I took all my costume history classes.

Basil Rathbone was a very sexy man (and had a long, happy 2nd marriage too). These jackets, however, are gorgeous but damned hard to pull off IMO. You need to be tall or else you look like a woodland mushroom.

A, you're too kind.

F, I agree except I would add they even look a bit--how should I put it?--too period piece-y on tall folks. Capes, on the other hand, would be stellar. I want the burgundy one Hepburn wears in My Fair Lady.

Annie - as a fan of Sherlock Holmes, I must say that this is a fab photo.
I adore most versions but my absolute favourite Holmes was played by the late Jeremy Brett not Rathbone.
