Marc Jacob Spring 2005 RTW: There were some great inspiring pieces. I loved his jersey gowns and thought very highly for the black skirt with the slip-like trim. Very feminine and pretty.

It looks like he used navy but that might be style.com playing tricks on me or high hopes that navy will make a comeback.
Navy should never have to make a comeback. It should be a staple and available at every minute. Everytime navy comes back I run out and buy up everything I can.
Because I will not see it again for another 5 to 10 years.
Like locusts.

Other fashion tidbits spotted at the Marc Jacobs show:
-tuxedo inspired trims and styles
-baggy hip slung shorts with snug jackets
-oversize trousers that puddled or were ankle length
-massive prada-like coats that I did not like. I am such a coat fiend that this was offensive to me. How can you make an ugly prada inspired coat?
-sheer knee highs
-gowns and dresses that were tiered like a birthday cake. A few designers did this so I will post all of the versions next week.

I should have known that you of all people, Annie, would appreciate navy. It is just as versatile as black and much, much more flattering on most people. Yet you are right--somehow it is a fashion wallflower and apart from a few brief comebacks it's relegated to polyester. I have some beautiful navy pieces, but the sad fact is, they are all vintage. The newest one is probably early 1960s. Very sad.

I love the photo -- the simplicity of the dress is like a Greek chiton -- seems like the draping jersey lends itself to this kind of "ancient Greece" feel -- that influence is wonderful to me as is the repeated Japanese influence with the side-tied obi-type sashes. really beautiful things. xoxo

Ooh, did you see the Roland Mouret collection? So many things I saw were so me. I would wear almost every piece.

I went through an intense navy phase a while back, lots of navy sailor pants and navy blazers and the like. I don't know if I'm ready to have it back!

I have spotted several navy things in the spring shows(on style.com) so we might see it at our level. Grab the navy shoes and everything you see because they will not re-appear for another five years. My summertime goal is navy flats.
