(Marc Jacobs velvet satchel. Photo from style.com)
Today I came home to find the new Bergdorf Goodman fall catalog/magazine. I get excited when these books arrive. They are better than the fashion magazines.
My personal favorites:
The black tulle "Couture Ballgown Spy" bag from Fendi. It has a lovely black velvet ribbon, pearl details and a lizard handle. It also has a hefty price tag of $4,830.00.
Another worthy purse is Tod's "Mascherina". It is gray with a python trim. Looks similiar to the spy bag. The leather looks very rich.
The most adorable purse is a velvet satchel from Marc Jacobs. The flowers are made from python and ostrich. It is $2500.00.
I think this is a bit too much for a velvet bag but I can see being charmed by its cuteness.
I would actually splure on the mouthwatering Bottegas if I was to drop 2 grand for a handbag.
Those bags are drop dead gorgeous. The waiting lists must be around the block.
I think it would be hard to resist a Bottega with my beloved Bergdorf credit card jumping in my wallet.
The most jawdropping bag in the whole catalog is Darby Scott's Cadet matte alligator hobo. It is adorned with bezel-set semiprecious stones at the strap. Think Verdura cuff size gemstones. Stones include citrine, iolite, labradorite, moss agate, rutilated quartz and tourmaline. The price is $9000.00.
I will try to cover the clothes and shoes on Saturday.
Thanks for all the well wishes and sweet emails. I am very lucky to have such great friends. I will be writing everyone back this weekend.

Oh, Annie! This bag is the new objet-du-desir for me. Of course I won't be CAVING on it, but it is the swooniest!
The new Saks catalog is also stuffed with eye-candy.
Ah.
LOVE the catalogs! The Bergdorf Catalog, Saks Catalog, and the Bloomingdales catalog all came today--I was in FASHION HEAVEN!!!
I am swallowed up with lemmings!

I agree, the catalogs are often better than fashion magazines. I get tired of magazines where the photographer won't let me see the damn clothes and the stylist seems to have said, "let's make this model look as freakish as possible."
The MJ bag is absolutely darling, but like you I can't imagine spending $2000 on velvet, no matter how it's trimmed. The Darby bag is probably beautiful, but I have the oddest aversion to alligator skin only because I really like the creatures in real life. (I know that's weird, nobody like alligators, but I do! truly!)
Did you see the adorable pet photos in the catalog? I love Lou Reed & Laurie Anderson's dog. So regal.
I have that catalog sitting on my table, waiting. Been too busy to thumb through it. Also, afraid of wanting things.
