I remember going through a segment in Art History about the way Japanese art influenced so many Impressionists and other European artists ... there has been such a Japanese influence in the collections you've shown ... this is a prime example: the mixed textures/colors and obi-tied sash. so interesting. xoxo
They've been trying to bring the obi into style for so long! I remember buying obi-inspired waist wraps when I was in college. Then a couple of weeks ago, one of our graphic designers showed up with an obi-ish wrap around her t-shirt. We still have yet to get up the nerve to incorporate that backpack-looking butt cushion, though...

I find this outfit to be very Pirates of Penzance (sp?).
He used vintage kimono fabrics for the collection too.
I think it was one of my favorite paris collections besides Martin Grant.
