Ellen Pompeo in Valentino: Its getting mixed reviews but I actually liked it. It was very Lara Flynn Boyle-ish at first glance but then...I starting thinking of Carole Lombard and that era. I can see this dress on Vanessa Paradis.(style.com)
As usual, your eye is unerring! This is a very 30s cut, to me, with those sleeves, high-ish (but not Empire) waist and bias cut. It reminds me of Jean Harlow's favored style in evening wear, as here. Alas, I can't find a full-length shot of my favorite Jean gown, worn in China Seas, but here you can see the wonderful top of it.
Speaking of ponytails.......Did you see the article in the new Vogue about the "posh ponytail"? Felish the delish is going to howl when she reads it. You are going to LOVE it!
