Blogdorf Goodman is a mishmash of beauty product reviews, musings on fashion and swooning over fragrances.

It was a fairly lackluster fashion week. As always I managed to find tons of pieces that I will start to covet and dream about. I am lemming the entire Tuleh collection. I loved the pencil skirts and vintage inspired coats. I also loved the fact that Bryan Bradley left handwritten notes on all the chairs. You have to love good manners in a world where it is cut throat and often ugly.

I also loved the Vera Wang collection. This collection marks the third time I have been blown away by her talent. Do not get me wrong. She was always good. But something has happened...that has made her mindblowingly genius good. Look at the details on the gowns and the draping and twisting. It is like Madame Gres has possessed her body.

I am still on the fence concerning the Marc Jacobs show. I think I am leaning toward liking it. There was something comforting with the layers of clothing. Like building your own personal cocoon in a world gone mad. I also appreciated how he lightly teased the consumer with grunge again. I am sure this will be a successful collection. The olsen twins alone will make large orders.

Donna Karan floored me with her fall collection. I had stopped paying attention to what she did a few years back. It could be the best collection she has ever done. I know that is heavy praise and it might be misguided.

Calvin Klein: Finally a good strong collection. The standout gown is a sheer gown with a chevron pattern in red & black. That gown is going to be huge. A star among dresses.

Narciso Rodriguez: My beloved and favorite fashion writer Cathy Horyn described it as a collection that "evoked a primal heat". I went back to style.com to see what the hell I missed.
I did not see anything worthy of inspiring that kind of reaction. I did not find it thrilling but there were some lovely coats, architectural elements, lots of volume and plastic used as embellishments.

Zac Posen: It was like the school textbook to the 2006 fall collections. Each trend was well represented and done beautifully. It was pretty flawless.

These fashion blogs did great coverage of the week:

She was reporting straight from the tents. It was wonderful seeing the shows through a newcomer's eyes. Make sure to read the comments. There were some amazing debates.

Annie, I just want to reiterate how much I LOVE your blog. It is so unique, the way you post photos of, say, the Vera Wang collection, then also photos of Rothko pieces that you are reminded of. I just love that. I'm not a student of fashion or anything, so thank you so much for helping me see it all in a different light! (sorry for posting this gushiness for all to see, but I can't find your e-mail address...)

La Dulcinea: I am a huge fan of your site!!! This comment made me feel good since I felt that I could not keep with the collections. I am days late with photos from the british shows.

R: Thanks R!
BTW: Loved your post with the food decriptions and the ending with the perfume girl. Have you ever figured out what fragrance it was?

Annie ... I just don't have the knowledge base that you have ... So no, I can't tell you the scent. We would have to spend a week together in Paris to get me up to speed ... Is is worth it?

And so you read my blog and don't leave a comment? I'm glad to know you liked the Berin item ... Berlin was a trip - I love it.

R: I have no plans to travel to Paris any time soon. So in the meantime you need to do this:

T: I have missed you! I hope everything is well. What are your new fragrance loves? My last one was Annick Goutal's Songes. I know you will love this one since we have similiar tastes. It comes out in March. Lancome is also relaunching 2000 et une Rose. Can you believe it? It is a dream come true. )))T(((
