I am in a Frederic Malle's frame of mind. Today I am wearing Iris Poudre. The notes are iris, tonka bean, vanilla, musk, sandalwood and vetiver. What are your favorite Malle fragrances and why? And what do you think of Carnal Flower?
I love Musc Ravageur because there is no musk in it. To my nose, anyway.
I've loved Lipstick Rose ever since my first sniff of that one. I went through my first bottle in four months! I repurchased immediately.
Also, I love Le Parfum De Therese. It is a most unusual floral with a huge green presence. It seems similar in style to me to my beloved Quelques Fleurs Original.
They took me a while to love, but once I loved them, whoa Nellie. I love Iris Poudre (wore up the whole sample, had to buy the travel sprays), Musc Ravageur (unbelievably good, never liked a scent called "musk" before, so deep and warm and appealing), and today I'm doused in my sample of Carnal Flower and feel I should probably apologize to all my coworkers and anyone who was riding the train with me this morning. I've also become an admirer of Lipstick Rose (but I can't wear it, it doesn't suit me), Parfum de Thérèse (a masterpiece, but again, can't wear it). I like the idea of Noir Epices but it doesn't turn me on. Une Rose is one of the few roses I would actually consider wearing. It's like what I wish Opone really was. Vetiver Extraordinaire is pretty amazing straight up vetiver. I used to love En Passant but am sort of over it. Angeliques sous la Pluie: so not me. Bigarade? A great cologne, wore it in the Philippines and it was perfect. Une Fleur de Cassie: NO. Lys Mediterranée: eh. Did I miss any? ;-)
One of the best gifts I ever got was the sampler set from Frederic Malle! =) Right now, since it's the start of spring, my favorite scent is En Passant. It always lifts my spirits. Cologne Bigarade is also something that makes me feel light and happy. Musc Ravageur is the only musk scent I can wear, and I only wear it very rarely. And I must be one of the few who enjoy Une Fleur de Cassie. I got through lots of moods, and haven't found a scent in the box that I don't like in some sort of setting (very rare!) although Noir Epices can sometimes give me a headache. I am really hoping to try Carnal Flower soon! Sigh!
For me, I adore En Passant, L'eau d'Hiver, and Carnal Flower. Yes, I am a floral kinda girl (these days. I really, really like Lipstick Rose, Iris Poudre and Musc Ravageur, and like (single "like")Parfum de Therese. Want to get around to trying Angeliques sous la Pluie...and may pass on the rest--just because my nose may protest :-).
Angeliques sous la Pluie -- I love it for the same reason Andree Putnam is my favorite. An unusual green. What's in it -- artemisia, or angelica, or something like that? I also like that it stays close to the skin, and reads a little masculine.
As a perfume addict, it is really hard to stick with 10 favorites, let alone one!!! But.....I have finally found a fragrance that I keep coming back to day after day after day which is highly unusual for me. Iris Poudre by Frederic Malle makes me warm and happy all over. I own En Passant as well and while it is nice and lilacy, Iris is instantly inviting and sensuous; I have gotten countless compliments, and have even been told that it smells a bit like Chanel No 5 but it smells even better!
You know what is strange and bad about fragrance sites? Nobody ever says where a fragrance can be bought. How do people get these things? The reviewer looked under the pillow and the fragrance fairy left it? I bet a lot of people live in places where there's no fancy store that sells every scent in the world, and so, has to end up searching the net for a place that sells something like "Musc Ravageur!

Carnal Flowers smells beautiful on Griff!
I'm trying to grow fond of Angeliques, but not having much luck...on me it just smells like wet bread.

Iris Poudre is one of my favorites and Lipstick Rose. Carnal Flower was too heady for me.

Charles: You can get Frederic Malle fragrances at Barneys.
They also can be directly ordered from the Frederic Malle website.
