40 Days and 40 Nights of Primer Reviews

Primer #31.

Today I'm at the point where I don't even want to see my La Prairie Concealer Foundation! I've been wearing it every day since we started our Project Primer, and I so want to switch to another foundation today, but I will carry on and make it work. And so because I really did not want to use the La Prairie, I will review something new from a line I love, Bourjois Paris. This month, Bourjois has introduced three new primer-type products. Matt Lovely (to mattify, of course,) Lovely Base (a green tinted product to correct redness,) and Lovely Party (a luminous, complexion enhancing base.)

I'll talk about Lovely Party today. I found the name irresistable and so I thought I'd try this one first, and also I love anything that says "illuminating" or "enhancing" on the label.
Lovely Party is a thin, liquidy, silicone-packed product that also has glycerin, talc, and vitamins in the formula. Out of the tube, it is pearly-white. As I smoothed it on my face, it burst with iridescence! Pinky-peachy-pearly, shimmery, glossy iridescence! The tube suggests wearing this primer alone, under, or over foundation. I don't think I'd wear it alone, it's just too much shimmer. Maybe that's why the name "Party" is given to this product! But it felt beautifully smooth and comfortable, it did not fill in any lines or pores, but still it felt soft and moist on my skin. It takes a bit of smoothing to get an even application, but it is a light liquid and it did not clump or cake at all.

I smoothed on my La Prairie, even though I wanted to try this primer with just about any other foundation today, but La Prairie it is, for as equal a comparison as I am able to do. The foundation went on with ease, no grabbing or extra smoothing needed, and no weird fingerprints showing, just a nice even look. I did not notice any accenting of dry areas, no flaking, and no sinking into pores, but this primer gave my normally dewy La Prairie an even dewier, glossy finish. The iridescence was toned down by the foundation, and the light-reflective qualities of the primer definitely helped to soften my *ahem* imperfections and give a youthful appearance to my not-so-youthful skin. I'm surprised that a product that contains so many "-cones" did not fill in pores or lines, but I'm very pleased at the appearance. A more dry-type primer will tend to 'grab onto' foundation and make it last longer, but Lovely Party helped my foundation to last most of the day without slipping, wearing, changing color, or sinking into lines and pores. It makes me want to have a party or go to a party to wear the Party. And I did not mind my La Prairie, well, for yet another day, anyway.
Product rating, 8.

Well, I do think that our Annie is planning a list with the rating numbers, but I don't know if I will list my favorites myself. The rating numbers would probably be the same as if I wrote an evaluation, but I like the idea, so maybe we can do it.

Thanks, Mel, but the real question is, "Where's Andrae?"
