Yasmin Lebon looks fantastic. She must have a fountain of youth in her backyard. The first picture is very recent. The next three were back in the supermodel days.

Who was your favorite model?

I loved Christy Turlington, Gail Elliot, Yasmin, Yazmin G, Marie Seznac, Kate Moss and Shalom Harlow and Audrey Marnay. I am sure I am forgetting many.

Annie, I will date myself with this answer, but I remember how excited I used to be to walk to the pipe shop and pick up the fall college issues of Glamour.I believe the issues were 50 cents! LOL And, the model who pretty much dominated that time period in my life was the gorgeous Cybill Shepherd. She was just breathtaking. Have you ever seen her in The Last Picture Show? Wowie!

And thank you for the compliment!

Amber Valetta and Christy Turlington.

Patty, Cybill Sherpherd was so pretty. That makes me think of another person--Candace Bergen. She was so pretty in Carnal Knowledge, so elegant with that ponytail.

those pictures of Yasmin are lovely! Keira Knightley looks a bit like her, I think.

my favorite models were/are: Patti Hansen, Marisa Berensen, Iman, Isabella Rossellini, Shalom Harlow, Stella Tennant, Nadja Auermann, Tajana Patitz, Kate Moss, Alex Wek, and of the newcomers I like Gemma Ward quite a bit.

cheers! sara

I will date myself too, Patty! I loved Gia Carangi and Cybill Shepherd. I really like Bridget Moynihan, and I like Linda Evangelista lately because her face is so elegant as she has aged. Not that she is old! I love Carmen, who is the older model with the beautiful white hair. I loved Dovima. I do not think the new girls have such a presence as the ones from the past. I do think Jessica Stam has an interesting face.

Oh I loved Yasmin! She looks fantastic today. I remember I first saw her on the cover of Elle w/ this black turtleneck and gold hoop earrings. She looked so exotic and beautiful from all those blonde models of the 80's.

I adore Audrey Marnay, Jaquetta Wheeler, Karen Elson..the quirkier European girls rather than the Brazilian bombshells (who I will never, ever resemble, however much I try)

Nice Yasmin mention! I recently heard someone ask "who's Linda Evangelista" and felt so old...

I lived the first 20some years of my life in Youngstown, BTW!

Pattyg: Cybill was stunning in the Last Picture Show. I always loved when Moonlighting used her old modeling pictures for props.

greeneyes: Loved Amber too. I loved when she did the pixie cut. That is when she was at her height.
BTW: My favorite Candace Bergen picture is from the infamous Capote ball. She looked so amazing with her bunny ear mask.

Anon: That is a great list. I have the British Vogue that showcased Stella Tennant and Plum Sykes. It also featured Nadja with her hair a mousey blonde.
I loved Hansen,Berenson, Naomi Sims,Shrimpton,Dovima,Suzy Parker,Lisa Penn,Karen Elson, Erin O'Conner, Maggie Rizer,Irina,Gail Elliot,Trish,Helena C, Tyra(when she first came out and looked like a baby Naomi),Karen Alexander and many more.

Patti: Linda has aged well. They all have.
Out of the new models I prefer Irina because she takes interesting pictures and has great style.

Natalie: I remember that cover!!!
I always wanted to see her in more ads and editorials. She was never used enough. You could always count on her to do the Chanel catwalks.

Mar: I prefer the quirky ones too. I do love Cinta(sp?) though! Her red hair is so stunning.

Anon: Such a foolish man. She is as stunning as she was when she first started modeling. She looks fantastic while he has let himself go.

Nancy: Hi fellow ytowner!!!!
My co-workers were looking at pictures from Oprah's ball and they asked "Who is Naomi Sims?"
I was horrified that they had no idea who she was. I am tempted to do a supermodel month. People need to be aware who Sims and Evangelista were in the modeling industry. They were so important.
Your pictures were perfect!!!! I was excited that she had a site devoted to her.
PS: Ytown has not changed much. It is still the same.

Shalom and Naomi were amazing on the catwalk. Remember how great they walked? They were the best.
