All About Nars (A hodge podge of Nars tidbits!)
Read all about the inspiration behind the new spring collection at the Nars website:

From the site Beauty Marked:
Another of my favourite combinations, that epitomizes the concept of Makeup Wardrobing, is the Iceland Duo eyeshadows," recalls Uzo. "Iceland looks white in the compact. On, Iceland Duo has a slightly lavender blue side to it and the other side has an almost mint green look to it. So when you place either of these shadows on top of a colour that is in a a similar colour family to the shadow, it tones down the colour without taking anything away from the richness of the pigment. It's an amazing Duo. I think every NARS client should have this one. This older, classic, member of the collection works perfectly with all the newer, bolder colours too. Iceland Duo is so useful if you want to take your colour down a couple of shades, if your not ready for full on colour."

The trivia question:
What store did Nars launch his collection?
Sidenote: I feel bad that these trivia questions have been so lame. It is practically impossible to find trivia goodies on the man or company.
It is like a secretive society.
Like a Knights of Templar of Beauty.

Thanks for all the NARS fun! I remember when his collection first came to NYC (Barneys...? not sure!). The lipsticks were instant cult items. The names like Fire Down Below... ooh la la! and that matte black packaging, which was so new at the time.
I once interviewed Francois for Hello Magazine in London, and he totally has life sussed ... he is a figure head for his company, owns an Island in The South Pacific and splits his time between there and NYC. He is concentrating on his photography, and he survived the supermodel Eighties with his modesty and humour intact. I loved him Xnadine
The Iceland duo sound like Smashbox Eye Illusion. I like the toned down/opal effect it gives to dark shadows or liners.
Thanks for the part on the Iceland Duo. I have this, love it but rarely use it. always not sure it's quite right. This will get me to think about using it more. The green side is really nice. It doesn't last too well on me ,however. i find this with Nars shadows, which disappoints me.
