Marc Jacobs Fall 2007 RTW

"everything in the collection feels unhurried, beautiful and a little bored" (quote from Cathy Horyn)

"If you felt like ditching your layers, it was no accident."

As so often with a Marc Jacobs show, the feeling was of both brilliance and frustration. The designer captured a yearning for reality dressing, and the collection, reduced to individual pieces, will look modern and desirable. But its presentation was so obviously a pastiche that it seemed barely to need a designer to create it. (quote from Suzy Menkes)

It wasn't only the clothes ditching the layers and being reduced, Jacobs himself appeared ultra-thin, with a new haircut and missing his trademark eyeglasses. Methinks he dipped into the gift bags and had himself some swag pills.
But his show was breathtakingly beautiful, totally wearable, and quite a bit more sophisticated than we usually see from him.

I am tickled to death by the dedication. I am not worthy! I love the pictures of dear Marion. She would have loved these clothes, although she was short and, by standards, rather plump.

I admit it, I am in love with this collection. It doesn't have the supreme original and artistry of Galliano's but it is so beautiful, wearable and so completely ME.

I really liked this collection since it reminded me so much of classic movie stars and I simply adore the hats and how they really made each look glamorous.

Fabulously clean and un-gimmicky. I pray that this aesthetic filters down to my modest price point.Did anyone notice the two small silver duck pins? Discrete but charming.

Maybe because I work with MAC, and we have a new Barbie loves MAC collection coming soon to www.barbielovesmac.com, but all I see is Barbie in Marc Jacob's looks this season. I learned that she was a muse for many designers like Armani, Doony and Bourke, Anna Sui, Versace, and even Tarina Tarantino! In fact, Anna Sui was actually president of the Barbie Fan Club where she grew up in Michigan-kinda cool that she got to design for Barbie now.
