DiorShow Blackout Mascara
I have been testing this mascara for several months. I have been stalling the review because I can not make up my mind on how I feel. There are days that I am in love and think my lashes have never looked better. Then there are days when I want to hurl the tube out the window. I have never been so tormented on how I feel about a product.
The "smitten worthy" features of this mascara is the volume and lengthening power. This tube gives you lashes that are lush and long. It is like you have added a weave to your lash line. It is dramatic and impressive.
The color is more intense and rich than the original Diorshow. It is an inky and sooty black. It is also darker than my previous holy grail lash product, Shu Uemura's Basic Mascara.
What do I hate about this mascara?
That darn brush.
It is large, awkward and unwieldy. I have been wearing mascara since grade school so its not like I do not know how to handle a wand.
My lashes were clumpy, spiky and a hot mess.
How did I end up falling in love with this product?
I used my brush from Max Factor's Volume Couture.
It was like the heavens opened and a choir started singing.
Like the genius combination of peanut butter and jelly...these two mascara's make some beautiful lashes together.
It is everything I have ever wanted and more.
Disclosure: I purchased this mascara at Sephora.
Labels: Christian Dior, Mascara, Product Purchase

I tried that mascara, and hated it.
Me too until I switched brushes.
I swear the brush makes the difference.
Oh my gosh, I feel the same way! Love the darkness... Love the length... Love the volume... Hate the clumping from the wand... the more I try to separate, the more I make a mess... and it's pretty much impossible for me to just apply one coat of mascara... I like layers! ;-)
For some reason I've never thought of switching out brushes on mascara - you guys are beauty geniuses!
Ooooh genius idea. I've pretty much given up on Dior since I read rave review on Diorshow and for me all it does is make my lashes straighten after having curled them. (OK I seem to have this problem with alot of mascaras....anyone know why?)
When I started to read the post, I was going to suggest that you simply make a brush switch. I have some really cheap (flimsy almost) mascara wands from the drug store, and I have used them in tubes when I hate the brushes.
Glad it worked out for you!
Modern woman's fantasy: finding the perfect mascara! Maybe they should just start selling the brushes separately!
I'm a whore for anything involving the words Dior and Mascara. I've found that putting on a first coat of the Black Out and then a second coat of the DiorShow Unlimited is the best combination EVER.
The black out gets my lashes BLACK and very long and then the curved smaller brush of the Unlimited gets all those little bitty corner lashes and somehow magically declumps as well.
You know you're a makeup person when your "natural" eye look involves two kinds of mascara :)
L: Try a brush switch and see if it works better. I swear the brush change made all the difference.
Fashionable Kiffen: Either genius or a girl with too much time on her hands. LOL
Anon: I have straight lashes too. I think it is in all the wrists and the curler. I use Shu and that has helped. I still need to work on my technique though.
Aging Fab: I am glad too. That would have been a pricey mistake.
Girlfriend: I think Dior needs to re-think their brushes. I would love to see their version of a rubber wand. I would love to see Shu tackle a new wand design too.
Juls: I want to do that now!!!!!!
I might try to mix Blackout with Shu to see what it does.
I also tried this mascara and found that it flaked quite a bit by midday. I prefer Fresh's Supernova.
thanks so much for this review.. .funny thing is i use regular diorshow, with my cover girl volume exact which is (imo) max factor volume couture's competition (they came out at the same time.) that "revolutionary" plastic brush for defining is key... will dior catch on? what do you think of the scent? i don't know about diorshow black out... but regular diorshow smells like body lotion. i love it .. hehehee
annie.. one more thing.. do you find that coats of dior is too heavy for your eyes. i love this mascara, but it maybe too heavy on my tired (non special) days...
