Letters to Blogdorf Goodman

From Bonnie(My Boss): Can anyone recommend color matches to the discontinued MAC Lip Liner called Little Tease. I would love to find match to the light blue based pink lip liner.
I am open to any brands!
Thanks in advance!

From Bina:
We have all been taught no power to fix the foundation under you eyes.
But as I get older under my eyes is the place which is showing it the most.
Partly with dark circles, partly well bags a little bit so if there was ever a spot where you might like to fix your concealer or foundation that would be it.
Any suggestions for bring some look of youth back to the undereye area? Also - I travel all the time for work so the solution needs to come in travel friendly packaging.

From Laura:
i just have a question for you, what is the best curling mascara so far out there? i have long lashes but they are stick straight i tell you and even if i curl them with a lash curler, do go back to place so i have to put on some mascara. but then i would just love to have that natural look so i was wondering since you're good at this, what is the best curling mascara out there?
If you have any suggestions please post them in the comments.
Thanks in advance!

Bina: YSL Touche Éclat, or the Dior copycat product called Skinflash, is lightweight (feels like wearing nothing), sticks to skin forever, and has little light reflecting pigments that seem to erase darkness under the eye and around the nose and corners of the mouth. It comes in a handy brush/pen that makes it the perfect thing to carry in a purse to touch up if you feel the need.

Laura: I too have stick straight lashes. A friend taught me a trick: you heat your eyelash curler lightly with a hairdryer (making sure to test it with a finger to make sure you don't scorch your eye) until it's warm to the touch. Then you curl as usual. It curls and holds much, much better than doing this with a cold eyelash curler. Just take care not to sizzle yourself; just get the metal warm. Then I use DiorShow or YSL Faux Cils.

Bina: I have been quite happy with the Bobbie Brown corrector and the concealer. I am in my late 40s and I have trouble there as well. I also use the Benefit eye brightener. Good luck.

Laura: The only way I can get my stick straight lashes to stay curled is waterproof mascara. First I curl with my trusty Kevyn Aucoin eyelash curler then use WP mascara. My two faves right now are Max Factor Lash Perfection waterproof very black and DiorShow waterproof black.
Oh and for a very natural look I like Maybelline Lash Discovery waterproof mascara in black brown (this is also great layered under the DiorShow).

Bina: For major under eye camo I have to go with a full concealer (Touche Eclat is more like a highlighter for me) so I have good results with Trucco's pot concealer and Mac Studio Fix (which is technically a foundation). Build up lightly to avoid cakey-ness. I do love the Touche Eclat brush pen, though. And it's the #1 highlighter in my book. For a night creme helper -- and I can't believe I'm gonna recommend this brand -- but Mary Kay has an under eye product for nighttime that has worked better than nearly every other one I've tried. It's not their daytime one, it's their nighttime. For puffiness, Origins eye mask (keep it in fridge ... fabo!!).

Laura: I also have straight lashes that stubbornly refuses to curl. I swear by Shu Uemura eye lash curler. This really curls my lashes! Than followed by Canmake Quick Lash Curler as a base. This stuff really helps to hold your curls. Than last but not least 2 coats of Lancome Hypnose.
Canmake is a Japanese Drugstore brand by Kose. Their stuff are great and affordable! I love their blushes!

Bina,
Cle de Peau concealor is the best and it's in a small stick. I have am very dark under my one eye especially, and when I used Bobbi Brown or other concealors, I've had people ask me if I have a black eye. This stuff works magic and it doesn't sit in creases etc. I'm in my mid 40's so there are some wrinkles there too for proof it works. It's spendy, but I own about 4 other brands I've tried and they are a waste of money compared to this.

Laura: an alternative to consider is perming your lashes. It costs around $50 (in Vancouver) and lasts about 3 months. It looks fantastic and you can forgo the curler and go right to mascara!

annie, i have a question for you: how long does perfume typically last?

to laura: i use chanel inimitable, but regardless of the mascara used, i have always curled my lashes, then use a trick i learned from an aveda ma: starting at the base of the lashes, wiggle the brush to the end of the lash, then hold the lashes with the brush for a few seconds; this helps hold the lashes in a curl. it's always worked for me!

my favorite undereye fix is Benefit Eye Bright. I used to use the Revlon knock-off of touche eclat, and I would stock up when it was on sale. Then I found it would go bad before I even had a chance to use it! The eye bright pencil is a much better product.

Thanks everyone!

Mindy: Depends on the fragrance.
Some have great sillage and last all day. Others I have to re-apply.
My Frederic Malle Carnal Flower is one of my favorites....but it does not last long on me. I have to carry a decant bottle around.
Bond's Chinatown can last for days...if I let it. LOL
