Just a friendly reminder that it is election day in the states.
Go and vote!!!
Speaking of voting....
One of my favorite friends has been nominated for a 2007 Weblog Award.
This is the Emmys for blogs.
Campaspe's Self Styled Siren is up for Best Culture Blog.
Please send a vote her way.

Aw, aren't you a sweetheart! Culture Blog is an odd mishmosh of a category; I plan to write the Weblog Awards guy and suggest that he needs a fashion/beauty category as there does not seem to be one, and there is much really good reading in that field.
Right now I am duking it out for fifth place which ain't bad, and as they say, it's an honor just to be nominated, even if the whole is solely online and so I do not get an excuse for a red-carpet dress. :D
And by the way, my favorite scarf looks gorg, LOL!
Oh, that scarf! Oh, that blog! I've already voted. ;)
Which McGovern is on the photo?
hi Annieytown!
this is my first time commenting so i must let you know just how fabulous you and this blog are. i'm definitely a devoted fan. i actually have a birthday coming up this weekend and as a woman entering her 50's (and proud of it!!) i really want to treat myself to something good. i was wondering if you had any suggestions for a good moisturizing toner or serum for aging skin? i have some sun damage, fine lines and wrinkles, but the biggest problem is this sallowness that just won't quit! any suggestions would be mightily appreciated :)

Plus, I like your style. I am adding you to by faves:

You had to go an put a McGovern plug in there didn't you? Another fashion blog ruined for me because of backwards politics.
UGH!!!
Annie! I think I need to give you my Eugene McCarthy and McGovern campaign buttons to go with your fabulous scarf! And to the Self-Styled Siren, congrats on tne nomination!
To anonymous, it is easy to post those types of comments when you won't reveal who you are. If you believe so firmly, you wouldn't post in a cowardly manner.
Annie you can remove this if you disapprove of my disapproval.
Patti
Patti & Annie dear, since McGovern was absolutely annihilated in an unprecedented landslide and the other candidate went to the big voting booth in the sky quite some time back I am not sure why anonymous is still so worked up she can't stand the sight of a piece of memorabilia. A Goldwater scarf would have been just as funny. Maybe more funny. (If you find one in a fab Ohio vintage place, call me.) It's been 35 years, even my mom is over the 1972 election now.
I was the first anonymous poster.. sorry! I don't want a Google account. I'm very happy to identify myself.. MaureyL. I'm a regular on alt.fashion. I'm assuming that the McGovern slogan stands for George McGovern and I don't think memorabilia for him IS cute or funny, as he was such a virulent racist-- anymore then I think black faced "jockey" statues are funny or cute. And I'm just a bit confused as to why that image was chosen on for a makeup blog-- would you include fascist memorabilia as a gentle reminder to get out and vote??
MaureyL
WHOOPS. After checking, I see that I have confused George C. Wallace with George McGovern--- EEEK! McGovern was anti-Vietnam and would probably go ballistic if he saw my comments above! Most sincere apologies to everyone for jumping into the deep end without checking my facts! But hey, they are both named George (she says shame-faced)....
MaureyL, slinking off to study her history more carefully...
Linda: I love Estee Lauder's Idealist and CP Perfectionist(beyond amazing!) products. I also love this moisturizer from a company called Zelens. I hope this gets you started!
MaureyL: I generally do not talk about politics on the blog except on Election Day. I have been raised on politics and I actually work for a politican...so I am a little overzealous with reminding people to vote.
Campaspe and I bonded over our shared political views the first time we met. She wore her McGovern scarf because she knew I would appreciate it. Of course...I snapped a shot of it to use for one of my election day posts. The fact that she was nominated for a web award just made the post extra perfect.
I hope you visit again M. Something tells me that all of us would get along and have a great time talking politics!!!
I am a compulsive reader of your blog-- I check it every day! So not to worry... I will be back to talk makeup, lipstick or politics!
MaureyL xx
This is funny because I am the anonymous poster upset with the McGovern plug. I will not identify my self because I work in politics. I just came back here to delete my bookmark and noticed all the back and forth. MaureyL was not me.
Anon2: Sorry to lose another reader due to McGovern Scarf Gate. I never would have dreamed that a vintage McGovern scarf could inspire such strong feelings. I seriously saw that as the safest political giggle....ever.

I'm so ready to bring out my Spiro Agnew wristwatch.
