Space NK

Space NK was founded by Nicky Kinnaird in April 1993. Her vision "was to achieve a light, open, yet intimate enviornment, serviced by high skilled and unbiased beauty retail experts, and to offer a unique and eclectic mix of both lesser known brands and the best of the familar ranges sourced from around the world". Brands range from Chantecaille to Eve Lom.

Kinnaird helps nuture the creative people behind our favorite brands. She works with Christopher Sheldrake on Space NK fragrances. She was also an early fan and believer in Poppy Kings lippie vision.

Space NK offers the Nars, Laura Mercier, and By Terry makeup lines. They also offer exclusive cult favorites Zelens, Pro-Ferm, Eve Lom(my latest love), Huilles and Baumes, Face Boutique and Joshi Holistic skincare. High end lines Revive, Jurlique and Ren are also offered at the store.
The fragrances sold at Space NK range from the highly popular Marc Jacobs to the Stoned by Solange Azagury. I recently fell under the spell of Diptyque's L'Ombre dans L'Eau. This is a gorgeous blend of blackcurrant leaves with Bulgarian roses.

Visit the store the next time you are in NYC.
It is located on 99 Greene Street in Soho.

I was a frequent visitor to her original shop in Covent Garden (you couldn't have swung a cat in it). They used to be very generous with samples (especially Kiehls, for some reason). The shops are still fairly 'intimate' but there are now millions of them. LOL!

I've told the story before but here goes: years ago, during a short stay in France, I bought a bottle of Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse in a Prisunic and, on my return to London, I wrote to NK to tell her about it and suggested she should stock the Nuxe range because it was good quality but unknown here, etc. I got no response from her, but about eight months later Nuxe products appeared on the shelves. I wrote to ask whether I'd been instrumental in that. She answered she'd never got my original letter. Hmmm... Believe what you will.

Two years ago, I wanted a little pot of Nuxe RĂªve de Miel lip balm so I went to the nearest SpaceNK (in Kensington Church Street). The SA looked at me with a hint of contempt and said they didn't stock that brand any longer. I realised the probable reason why: the range was now on sale at Boots (which is where I acquired it - the big branch in Kensington High Street, just around the corner from SpaceNK).

You could say I have a love-hate relationship with them.

I have to say I received excellent service from them. I don't live where we have a Space NK and so I emailed them my question. I actually got a phone call back and we had a long discussion about skin types and what she recommended. She sent me those products and a few samples as well and she was right on - I LOVE the products and service!

Bela: You make me want to hunt down these Nuxe products. When you love a product...that means something. It is very high praise for their quality!

Wow, thanks for the compliment, A! They are very good quality, I think. Nuxe is an old company that had fallen on hard times before it was brought back into the limelight. IIRC, the old packaging was a sickly pink at some point... no wonder no one bought the products.

That is so funny: my word verification, er, word is 'qmiel'. LOL!

I ordered products from SPACENK.on the internet. They sent expired outdated products. Customer service
(Emily)is useless. They charged me $160.00 for an expired product that is clearly marked $125. I been trying to get my money refunded and return product. I gave them the benefit of doubt the first time. This the second time they sent expired old products.
DO NOT order from website. Go in person if you wish to deal with a store that has poor customer service. Although they are very helpful when you purchase products.
If there is a problem after with products, is too bad for you. They DO NOT CARE!
