40 days and 40 Nights Of Beauty Cult Classics
Day 29 , Hard Candy's Sky

David Letterman is known for inquiring about a star's fragrance. Letterman has complimented Jennifer Lopez, Julia Roberts and Mia Farrow on their scents.
One night, over a decade ago, he complimented a young starlet named Alicia Silverstone on her toe color.
She stated that it was Sky by a company called Hard Candy.
The polish and company became an overnight sensation.

Dineh Mohajer created Sky to match a baby blue platform sandal that she adored. She mixed several nail polishes together to create the perfect sky blue shade. Little did she know that she would create a successful business and a nail polish cult classic. Hard Candy revolutionized the nail polish industry. The Hard Candy team made it cool and profitable to create and wear hip shades. Urban Decay and Revlon's Street Wear line all followed the HC trend. There might not have been a Chanel Black Satin if not for Hard Candy's Sky paving the way.
Sephora relaunched the Hard Candy classic shades and once again Sky has managed to sell out.
That is amazing.

I remember being obsessed with HC in my junior high days. The bottles were so cool, with the plastic rings on the tops. They were more expensive than drug store brands, so my friends and I would use our babysitting or allowance money to build up our stash! I can still remember painting each one of my fingers a different pastel color of HC polish!

I loved HC Sky on its first go-around. When baby-blue polish popped back up last spring, I checked it out decided I just couldn't do it again. Still a great colour, though.

I remember seeing Hard Candy nail polish in a boutique while I was on summer vacation, and I knew that it was something special and cool that I needed to have, so I bought a bottle or two -- I think it was a royal blue glitter polish (which I wore over a Sky-like polish).

I also remember trying to pry the plastic ring off the top so I could wear it! (Shows you how old I was!)

I had a bottle of Sky. And a bottle of pastel pink nailpolish. Back then they cost a mini fortune for my fourteen year old self, but I loved them.

i remember when i was in junior high the hard candy nail polishes were SO COOL! they came with those little plastic rings and they were the height of fashion and hipness! i loved Sky, it was always my favorite, too. speaking of dave letterman commenting on his guests perfume, i also remember him being really captivated my some kind of personally mixed perfume oils Nicole Kidman had on one time. btw, i really adore this 40 days and nights of cult products, i am having so much fun reading each day! i think you should make it 140 days and nights instead of just 40 :D and the idea for cult products has been the best so far! keep up the great work!

Haze was the HC nail polish that started my entire makeup/nail polish obsession. I fell in love with HC way back in 7th grade when my best friend had HC Sky and another one in navy. I fell in love with the bottle, the jelly rings and when I went to go get my own bottle I fell in love with Haze because I adore purple.
I collected so many bottles of HC n/p I at one point had 17 of them. Once I found them on sale at a drug store of all places in a bin all for $2 each and I hauled like crazy! Oh to be a teen again.

omg! I remember that! Do you know if this color is still available in stores? I don't think it's in the Walmart line.
