Lancome's Maharani Jewels Fall 2008 Color Collection

Poudre Elephant Teint
New limited-edition bronzer.
Suggested Retail Price: $36.50

Maharani Juicy Tubes
The Juicy Tubes are embellished with a golden design of scallop lines, dots, teardrops and paisley shapes. Shades range from Mango Mystere to Guava Enchantment and Autumn Jasmine. Autumn Jasmine is a stunning bubble gum pink with gold highlights. It is lemming worthy.
Suggested Retail Price: $18.00

Maharani Color Design Eye Shadow Quads
The raw and natural tones found throughout India’s countryside are seen in the Lotus Splendor palette with its earthy brown, peach and copper eye shadows, while the Secrets of Benghal palette features soft pink, dusty mauve, eggplant and highlighting shadows.

These palettes are the main reason why you need to run to your local Lancome counter. My favorite is Secrets of Benghal. There is a smoky deep plum and a taupe shade that rivals Chanel's Safari. I realize that those are "fighting words" in the world of taupe fanatics but I stand behind the statement. It had an "Erika F" vibe. I will do a comparison and swatch next week.
Suggested Retail Price: $40.00

Maharani Jewels is arriving at your Lancome counters next week. I found the collection at my local Dillards store.
Let us know what you think of the collection in the comments.

I do not normally like lancome but your pictures and threat of any shadow that may rival Chanel Safari has my attention! TY for the review. Curse you for the lemmings! LOL

This shade kicks a**! I thought it was beyond spectacular. The plum was also impressive. It would do a fabulous smoky eye.

That picture of the elephant compact looks way less sparkly and intricately designed than the picture Lancome has released of it. Is this because you've used it a bit or is it simply not as impressive in real life?

This photo was from my local Lancome counter. The SA said that the glitter had worn off with customers dipping their fingers in it. The SA said it looked AMAZING on people with olive or dark skin. I passed...since I am fishbelly pale.

Elle: It is awesome.
There are also new lippies and shadows too. It was overwhelming.

Scrangie: Thanks for your AMAZING blog. Your pics are always droolworthy. You capture shimmer like no one else.
What kind of camera do you have?

I love the Indian inspired collection and lippies! Browns are so my thing and these look particularly metallic and groovy...

Well, your post got me--I ordered the eyeshadow quad! Your Safari statement made me cave. As an aside, US r eaders should register to get Lancome's emails on lancome.com. Because my birthday is in July, I'm getting five free full-sized Lancome lipsticks with my quad order (it only works if you've been registered and this is special promo). But this website has more freebies and promo's than all my other makeup websites combined!

Wow, those look amazing. I'm a sucker for creative marketing techniques and I love the theme of this!

Wonderful, and none of these shades would work for me. I can admire it from afar. Might check out that Juicy Tube if my podunk Dillard's receives it (I will put my podunk Dillard's up against anyone's podunk Dillard's).

That bronzer reminds me of the embossing that both YSL and Chanel do on certain products that makes you not want to disturb the surface; at the same time it reminds me that beauty is often illusion.

lancome is sooo underrated! totally love it and am going crazy when I get my hands on it!

FWIW, to the poster who thought the elephant compact might not work for her, I'm as pale as they come, and I adore this (psuedo) bronzer!

I say psuedo, because that little patch of coral/orange (the saddle) is so highly pigmented that it overtakes the other shades (bronze/matte pink). It makes for the most beautiful shade of coral on my pale cheeks (though yes, I do have to use a light hand)!

I love this collection!

I bought the Secrets of Bengal quad, wore it yesterday, and I'm highly impressed. The colors are absolutely gorgeous, well pigmented, and blend amazingly, which honestly, I don't usually expect from Lancome shadows. To anyone who loves taupes, I think that this quad is a must have. Every single color in it is lemming-worthy. Thanks, Annie, for making me give it a second look!

The compact is AMAZING. I went to check it out without a real intention of purchasing and I ended up caving...just couldn't help it. New out of the box it's full of shimmer. I don't think I will be able to bring myself to use it.
