The Golden Compact Awards were conceived by three beauty bloggers: Jamie Allison Sanders of The Beauty of Life, Michelle Mismas of All Lacquered Up and Lilan Duong of The Daily Cookie. The 2009 judging panel also includes Amber Katz of Beauty Blogging Junkie and Carolyn Hsu of The Daily Obsession. Brands including M.A.C. Cosmetics, Yves Saint Laurent Beauté, Frédéric Fekkai, OPI, Estee Lauder, Lancôme, Benefit Cosmetics and Lipstick Queen, among many others, were asked to submit products by October 2008.

The blogger panel will test and review products through December 2008, and reveal their top picks in each category in February 2009. Readers will then be asked to vote for the best products in each category, with overall winners announced in March 2009.

As a thank you to the voting public, one voter will be chose at random to receive a prize package filled with items from the finalists.
