Curse of the Jade Scorpion: Part 2
My nail tech requested that I bring in my bottles of Chanel Jade and MAC Peppermint Patty to the salon. She wanted to see how they compared to Essie's Mint Candy Apple green.
She sold 6 bottles within one week and can not keep it in stock. One client bought 3 bottles to use for her pedicures. That is a mixture of great smitten status and fear. She must have been burned by the limited edition trend.
I did not get the love until we swatched it on a piece of tape. It is a mint green with a slight blue cast. It is a very cold shade and far from the jadite shades of Chanel and MAC.
Essie's Mint Candy Apple polish is currently being sold at http://www.essieshop.com/
It retails for $8.
Labels: Chanel, Chanel Jade, Jade, MAC Cosmetics, Nail Polish, Peppermint Patty

I'm wearing it right now and love it. I swatched Chanel's Jade a few months ago and it seemed to be too shimmery for me. China Glaze's new Up & Away collection also has a couple of mints that are worth taking a look at.
I thought the Essie polish was the best one yet! I do love the others...but the Essie is just so pretty and spring-like! I liked the Chanel for fall & winter...as odd as that sounds. It is more warm and very much like a chuck of jade. PP is like a piece of jadite.
I have seen the China Glaze in mags...but not in real life yet.
i compared these two shades in the post too. i also think they are rather close even though not 100%. i just bought a bottle of jade yesterday for a reader as she couldn't find it in her country. she said on ebay, jade is fetching up at 100USD a bottle. i thought it was ridiculous! i got it at 70MYR for her, which is about slightly more than 20USD. :) But i went through hell getting it as many poeple reserved a lot of bottles. i got hers by asking another girl to spare one from her 7 bottles...
I'm also wearing Essie MCA right now. I'd been wanting a mint green nail polish since last spring and this fit the bill perfectly.
I just got the Essie Mint Candy Apple and I had a manicure done with it last week... So far I've had four people comment on how pretty it is and what an original color. I've never before had anyone say anything about my nails. I LOVE this color!
It's so funny, if you had said "you will wear mint/jade green nail polish soon" to me last year, I would have laughed.
I did the lemming thing and bought the Chanel; I can't keep it from my sister and niece!
Christine
Great colour, indeed. Concerned it will not complement all skin tones though. Thoughts?
Helena: It is a very cool toned shade yet my entire nail salon has flipped their wigs over it. My nail tech said everyone is into it. Customers who normally are a "french manicure" kind of person...have road tested it. My nail tech was SHOCKED by the popularity.
I mean...who knew a mint green could blow up? But clearly...MAC, Chanel and Essie were onto something.
Im partial to the mint candy apple by Essie, its adorable! I love Essie nail polishes.
