MAC Mattene Collection: A smooth new take on the matte texture

The lippies come in a sleek slim tube made of rubber. It feels comfortable and looks stylish. Even though it is very Nars-like in appearance, it manages to stay clean inside my makeup bag. I have no idea why this rubber casing does not attract dirt or dust like my trusty Nars lippies but after a few weeks of use...they still remain clean and fresh looking.

This new lipcolor blends the velvety look of semi-matte with moisturizing emolliency of a creamier, softer, glide on lipcolour.

It is long lasting with an intense pigment that MAC lovers have grown to rely on. This formula just has a modern twist that makes it much easier to wear.

Lippies pictured left to right:
Night Violet-a deep grape
Immodest-A stunning magenta fushia
Cafe Matte-A rich caramel shade
Composure-Bronzey plum
Rougette-A fab berry shade. Perfect for this upcoming fall.
Classic Dame-This is a blood red worthy of being on Dita Von Teese's lips!
Flattering-This is a beige pink. This is my new lippie for smoky eyes!

There are other colors available like Poise(a yellow pink),Seriously Rich(a bright pink red), 40's Pink(a neutral dirty pink) and Tango( a dirty coral). These are currently available at your local MAC counter. They retail for $14.50 in the US. Our Canadian friends pay $17.50.

I love the texture and am over the moon for my Rougette. To hear that the packaging does not attract fuzz is like a small miracle to make my week! (I haven't carried Rougette in my makeup bag yet). But, I was disappointed that there are so many orange-tone-influenced shades in this collection ... or maybe I was just looking at things through the lens of my ruddy complexion (as I often do :) and I'm blind to any real logic on the matter. Other than that, I agree that Mattene is a WELCOME addition to the Mac counters!

Are these LE or permanent? I hope they are permanent but just in case I have already purchased backups of composure and cafe matte.

I got Classic Dame and it's gorgeous. I was giving it the eye when I saw preview picks, because I'm a sucker for red lipsticks (and the word "dame"), but I was trying to be strong and frugal. The second I put it on the back of my hand I had to get it - the feel of them is amazing.

I'm getting the LE triangle for the Mattene collection on the website. :\

I love my Nars products, but I'll agree about the dust magnet qualities of the packaging. It just drives me nutty!

I thought about giving it a spritz of anti-cling because it was just THAT annoying.

I got Flattering, Composure, 40s Pink and Classic Dame...I'm not as in love with these as I was with SlimShines (why couldn't THEY be permanent??), but I'll take what I can get. :)

What are the advantages of wearing Matte?

Coach Wife - Mattes just look better with my skin type/tone and I have pretty full lips so I want to accent them but not always draw lots of shimmery attention to them or they take over. It's just great to have matte lip options (looks great with a day smokey eye, can balance shimmer on eye or cheek) -- have to have the mix in your collection. I think they are also really lovely in the Fall and Winter (altho I live in FL so it's not like I have alot of experience with seasons!).

I picked up Rougette last week and I LOVE IT! Its the most fabulous color - perfect with just some black liner and mascara. It looks especially amazing when I am wearing gray. Love the formula - the color lasts a long time.
