My top 10 Fragrances for Summer:
Compiling this list was harder than I thought it would be. My list reflects which fragrances I grabbed the most often this hot Ohio summer.
1. Chinatown by Bond.
I know that a lot of my friends were saving this one for winter. I personally went nuts over it. It was love at first sniff. The first time was in NYC with cavewoman, brooklytbone, chattykathy, liongirl and smellslikeleaves. We went to the bond store to meet Laurice. She brought her lab bottle for cavewoman to sniff. The minute we entered the shop our noses were twitching with pleasure. She adores cavewoman and gave her a huge decant of the scent months before the release. Throughout the day we all took turns sniffing cavewomans wrist. It was wonderful and FBW(full bottle worthy) instantly. The bottle is just as stunning as the juice.
Notes: Peach Blossom, Bergamot(top notes)/Gardenia, Tuberose, Peony, Orange Blossom(heart notes)/Patchouli, Cedarwood, Vanilla, Sandalwood,Cardamom(the strongest note IMHO), and Guaiac Wood(base notes).
2. Magie by Lancome
This is a relaunch of a vintage lancome fragrance. I am a huge fan of other lancome discontinued fragrances such as 2000 et une Rose and Now or Never. I believe that the lancome company might be run by monkeys. They discontinue the best crafted and interesting scents.
This fragrance is beautiful and sophisticated.
Notes: Roses, Jasmine, Violets, Musk and Amber.
3. Black Orchid and Red Ginger by Susanne Lang.
This was one of my last favorite finds in NYC. Gorgeous and by far my personal favorites in the entire Susanne Lang fragrance collection. Black Orchid is a wonderful rich floral vanilla that reminds me of Monyette Paris and Chantecaille Frangipane. All three are the most beautiful tropical florals out there. Red Ginger just adds the right touch to the Black Orchid. It is crisp and fresh.
4. La Base
This is one of my all time favorites. By far the best drydown of all my fragrances. It develops and just gets more magnificent by the hour. A worthy and breathtaking floral.
The notes are alpine rose, iris, jasmine, bluebell, violet leaves, wild raspberry, mimosa, marigold, alpine bell flower, oudwood, and other soft rare woods.
5. Monyette Paris
One of my first lemmings inspired by impishnature. It is lush tropical floral with a little incense vibe thrown in. I stalked luckyscent.com for the big bottles for months. When they arrived I ran(cyber ran-HA) to the site to place my order.
The notes are tahitian gardenia, french muguet du bois and nag champa.
6. Roses Enchantees by YSL
It is a beautiful fresh rose based scent. Perfect for spring or the hot weather of this summer.
The notes are roses(pink, apricot and lilac)with a base of sandalwood. I detect some lily of the valley and green notes.
7. Aqua Allegoria Diovoine Magnifica by Guerlain
I purchased this a few months ago at Sephora. This is a fragrance I have reached for often during the hottest days of this summer. I never knew I was a peony fan until Chinatown and this fragrance. It is spicy yet it is never overpowering. I think the violet and iris note keep it soft. I am surprised that it does not have more fans. It is a gem among the allegoria line.
Notes: Peony, bergamot, pink grapefruit, iris and violet.
8.Guet Apens by Guerlain
I was lucky to be part of a group purchase organized by katymae16. It is another discontinued scent by a company that really should know better. It is a incensey vanilla/amber that is interesting and breathtaking at the same time. Notes are hard to come by.
I think the notes might be iris, amber, vanilla, and woods.
9. In Love Again by YSL
The first grapefruit I fell in love with until I sniffed Risa's (Lupa) Grapefruit Bellini. Her fragrance has ruined me for grapefruit based scents forever.
The notes are grapefruit, grape, bilberry, tuliptree slower, water lily, blackberry musk and sandalwood.
10. 2000 et une Rose by Lancome
Just perfection. I dream of warehouses filled with forgotten stock. This is Lancomes biggest mistake. It needs to be reissued.
Notes are: Dune Rose, Musk Rose, Bulgarian Rose, Amber, Musk and Vanilla.

Patti: A great list! I am so glad you love Carnival crush.
What a great list! What a great idea.
What is this black orchid with ginger (no. 3)? Sounds absolutely delicious.
I could add mine to my blog, but am uncertain I could list the notes.
You turned me on to la Base. It is beautiful. Have a good day.
Great list Annie!
Guet Apens sounds lovely!
The girl in the pic you posted looks so much like Ashley Judd!
Hope you are feeling better!
ROFLMAO over monkeys running Lancome. Except, you know, monkeys have a great sense of smell, and I think the chipmps would have kept 2000 et Une Rose in production.
I really must try La Base again when I am in NY. So many scents don't get a real chance with me when I am on a perfume-shopping bender.
mmm-wah!
Well do I remember our Chinatown/Bond jaunt, even if we have no pictures to prove it.
Monyette Paris! Reminds me, I have a vial of the DSH Bonnie version, which I actually like more (colder incense).
Your list is so girly and so you. Brava!
shoot. Now I'll be dreaming of 2000 et Une Rose right along with you, Annie!! xoxo
I've heard so many folks bemoan the disappearance of the 2000 et une Rose. What a pity. I think Lancome as a company seems to have a problem with recognizing their best stuff, although their reissue of Climat, Magie are promising. I'm sure you'll treasure you bottle of this while you have it.
Great list best friend! High five on Roses Enchantees! I wish that Chinatown smelled good on me, I just adore that bottle! I too pray that there is a hidden stock of 2000 et Une Rose because of all your raves!
I love your list and the lovely descriptions! =)
Great list! Guet apens "sigh"
