Someone recently asked me what my beauty philosphy was. I was stumped by this question. I really have no clear cut philosphy. I love discovering, lemming and ultimately caving on beauty products. One product that I am constantly on the hunt for is the perfect mascara. This is the one product that I wish I could find a "holy grail" version.
My "soul mate" mascara.
The one that is going to change my life.
In March's Vogue Marina Rust talks about her eyelash status. The article discusses lash extensions. These are "silk hairs individually bonded to your own lashes". The best thing is the lashes keep growing. The "extensions last until they shed naturally". She sold me on the idea instantly. Could this be the answer to my eyelash prayers? I will have to start a lash extension fund and start looking for local salons who offer the service.
This month Blogdorf Goodman will celebrate all things mascara. We will call it May Mascara Madness Month. If you are interested in participating please contact me at annieytown@yahoo.com

I am dying of laughter at your Clockwork Orange illustration for a mascara post. Dying! I will happily write for you about my quest for the eyelashes to end all eyelashes, from the point of view of someone with long but not dense lashes, and my experiments with false lashes, colored mascara, two-wand mascara (with a primer and then a color coat), eyelash curlers, and at last my discovery of my HG.
I use Revlon Fabulash every morning and top it off with several coats of Maybelleine Great Lash.....it's a great combo..you just have to work quick and be willing to deal with a little bit of flakiness that comes with the Fabulash...but this gets me thick, look at me lashed everytime!! It's WONDERFUL
Having tried millions of mascaras over the years -- I've decided that Dior Show is the best for me. It's luxurious and doesn't clump or flake -- they also make a nice waterproof variety for when you need one and my Pond's Cold Cream (the perfect product at the perfect price) takes it off in a snap. Runner up mascara : Great Lash -- a great product, but I find the wand a little skimpy. Love the blog, btw.
Hi Annie,
Lash planting has been all the rage in my country for a while. For about US$70, false lashes are planted in on your eyelid using a special glue that'll last for 3 months. The results can be stunningly natural or spiky and falseish depending onthe skill of your technician.
The mascaras I love include Maybelline Volum Express, Max Factor 2000 Calorie and Dejavu Fiberwig from Japan. The last one is meant for layering again and again to achieve ultra long lashes. All 3 stay on great in humid weather despite being washable.
IF you're as lash-obsessed as Japanese girls, I can even scan pages from a Japanese mag for you. It's a 3 page article with picture after picture of mascara APPLIED on actual lashes. just pm me at xiaoxuanlingxi@yahoo.com.sg

Fab photo, Annie! I have wanted Liza Minnelli lashes ever since I saw her as Sally Bowles in Cabaret. My own lashes stick straight out and are almost uncurlable, they are sparse and pale. And short. So even when I find a new mascara to try, it still takes me forever to build visible lashes. I will help out with reviews and maybe even discover a HG. Tania, you have me very curious about yours. Please do not make me wait too long to hear about your discovery!
hi annie!
my friend had the extensions done (very excellently!) for her wedding last october. i did her make-up, so i had a very nice up-close look at it. it was very natural looking! they lasted her through her honeymoon and a bit after too!
me, i'll admit that i have been using the shu uemura lashes for years. love them! i use them on my friends for all their special occassions! =)
Oooh! Can't wait for the May Mascara Madness to kick off!
I use Lancome Hypnose and I like it. But I have to periodically remove it from under my eyes as the day wears on. :(
I just read that article and it's so interesting...I mean, it actually grows! Amazing.
