Estee Lauder's Mood compact from cavewoman's collection:A mood ring is a novelty ring which changes color in response to body temperature, using a thermochromic liquid crystal. A form of biofeedback, they supposedly indicated the temperament of the wearer, indicated by the ring's color. Mood rings were a fad whose popularity peaked in the United States in the 1970s, and they are now seen as an icon of 1970s culture.
The Mood Ring was invented by Joshua Reynolds, who also invented the Thighmaster. Reynolds is heir to the fortune of Richard Joshua Reynolds, tobacco company founder.
The meanings of the various colors:
Black: Tense, nervous, harassed, overworked
Gray: Anxious, nervous, strained
Amber: Nervous, emotions mixed, unsettled, cool
Green: Average reading. Active, not under great stress
Blue-green: Emotionally charged, somewhat relaxed
Blue: Relaxed, at ease, calm
Dark blue: love , romance

What!?! I thought Suzanne Sommers invented the Thighmaster. That b!tch is worse than Al Gore taking credit for the invention of the Internet. Ha ha. Thanks for the history of the mood ring, patti! This compact is highly desireable to me because mood rings make me feel so nostalgic for my youth. I think Annieytown was with me when I bought the mother of all mood rings at the Hubbard flea market. It's very ornate and gypsy-like. :^)
I was!!!!!!
Damn I miss that flea.
Do you still wear your The Witching Hour necklace?
)))Melvis(((
I have a blue velvet dressform in my bedroom and the witching hour emerald is proudly on display there.
I also have that little gold glass-topped jewelery box that is held up by cherubs from that flea market. Remember how I stalked it for YEARS and only when the lady sold off all of her inventory to move to Florida would she sell it to me. I was prepared to pay $80 for it, and she only charged me $8. I think it is my best buy ever (besides Chloe).
