This was one of my Xmas gifts courtesy of the Cavewoman and the fine folks at MAC.

MAC Couture Sheer Mystery Powder and Couture Lipstick in Red No. 5

The Review:
I love the compact. It is metal with a jet grid design on top. Some MUAers stated that it reminded them of legos. I personally think of my jet bead necklaces. The powder works perfectly and will be a worthy replacement for my beloved everyday compact from Hard Candy. My Hard Candy has been a loyal friend. She always helps me out in a jam. Controls my shine and instantly freshens up my makeup.
This MAC mystery powder does the same job but comes in a more attractive high end case.

Cavewoman suggested that the MAC lipstick is a dupe for MAC's own New York Apple.
The colors are close but there is a difference.
The Red No 5 has no frost or glitter.
It is a cool toned blue based red that is more raspberry than apple.
It is lovely and will be a worthy addition to my red lippie collection.

I bought the lipstick and gloss but I found it just looked too pink on me. Sadly, I returned it. I did get the highlighters in pink and blue though. Those are pretty cool.

The compact is really cute and modern looking. I might have to try that myself.

I was sooooo impressed with that compact, being a compact collector! Should have gotten one for myself. It's well-made, nice and heavy, and the best part is that MAC packs a refill of the powder right in the box.
I'm so glad you like it, Annie!

The history of perfume goes back to Egypt, although it was prevalent in East Asia as well. Early perfumes were based

on incense, not chemicals, so aromas were passed around through fumes. The Roman and Islamic cultures further

refined the harvesting and manufacturing of perfumery processes to include other aromatic ingredients.

Thus, the ancient Islamic culture marked the history of modern perfumery with the introduction of spices and herbs.

Fragrances and other exotic substances, such as Jasmine and Citruses, were adapted to be harvested in climates

outside of their indigenous Asia.
