The descriptions are up on Specktra for the new MAC Icon collection. This year they have chosen the stunning Raquel Welch.
There are two promising looking eye quads, 6 lipsticks, 4 lipglasses, 2 limited edition glimmershimmers, a set of lashes and a power blush called Goddess.

My shopping list is:

The Sultress Eye quad: There is a shade called Sultress that is described as a "green grey."
I think I might need it.

Vital Spark lipglass. Specktra describes it as a "vivid metallic yellow gold frost."
I might need this too.

ScreenQueen liptsick

Goddess Blush

Both Beauty Powders Peaceful and Yogamode

Visit Specktra for the descriptions and pictures of the collection.

Who would you like to see be the next MAC Icon?

My picks Tippi Hedren and Julie Christie.

There are quite a few items in this collection that I might need to check. Especially the Sultress eye quad (green grey is something that I might need just as much as you do). Also those lipcolors in Roleplay and Adventuresome. I'm all about the plum lately.

As for my icon of choice, I'll be selfish and say Sophia Lauren. Colors that are inspired by her would most likely look good on me (now, if I could only find a product that would give me her cheekbones...).

PattyG: Damn.
That is the best answer.
My god...what they could do with her as an icon.
It is genius.

NonBlonde: I thought Sophia would make an excellent choice. She has aged so magnificently.
Her coloring would be perfect for a line.

I believe it's Raquel 'Welch', with a 'C'.

I agree with the suggestion of Sophia Lauren. I also request: Foxy Brown - Pam Grier, baby!, Elizabeth Taylor, Dorothy Dandridge (!), Ava Gardner, Rita Hayworth. And, of course, Marilyn Monroe!

I read about the Raquel Welch MAC Icon collection in the January Allure - they only featured a few shades (I liked the Screenqueen lipstick, too) and they looked stunning. RW's interview is chock full of pithy quotes, too.

I noticed that MAC tends to choose "icons" who are still around and willing to collaborate; from what I know about Diana Ross, Catherine Deneuve, and (now) Raquel, they were very much hands-on in putting together the makeup line in terms of colors and themes. So I won't be surprised if they chose a living one next year.

My picks for the next Icon? Previously mentioned: Pam Grier, Debbie Harry, Chrissie Hynde, Julie Christie, Sophia Loren... plus a few out-of-left-field votes for Donna Summer, Siouxsie Sioux and Joan Jett, which would be way too cool for words.
