The Grammys

There is no other award show that manages to confuse stars and stylists on the dress code. You will spot very formal tuxedos standing side by side with someone in a business suit. The ladies are just as confused with pageant worthy gowns mixing it up with barely there cocktail dresses. I generally avoid watching it because it grates on my nerves.

My picks for the best of the evening:

Mary J Blige in Michael Kors. She was robbed and deserved more wins.
I noticed that she tried the Sienna Miller braid.
I can not get harsh with her...because she is Mary.
Her voice can move mountains.

Corrine Bailey Rae: Just lovely and sweet.

LeAnn Rimes in Monique Lhuillier: Its a great dress that she managed to pair with exquisite earrings.

Jennifer Hudson in Robert Cavalli: Shes on a roll and setting the standard high for the Academy Awards. I would have liked to see more support in the bust area....but I will let it slide.

Scarlett Johansson in Monique Lhuillier dress: A "no-brainer".

Best dressed man: Ludacris (I am not joking)

The worst of the night:
There were many to choose from.

I was disappointed in Christina Aguilera's Ungaro gown. I disliked the nude pantyhose sash.

I was confused by Hilary Duff's hair but thought her Dolce & Gabbana mini dress was very flattering.

Natalie Maines

Imogen Heap: I appreciate and admire crazy...but she lost me with the potted plant in her hand.

Who were your picks for best and worst for the Grammys?

Jennifer and Mary look lovely, but I agree with you, A: Watching the Grammy red carpet entrances makes me wretch. I can't stand what these folks usually wear. Sometimes it's funny, but mostly it's a real letdown.

Hugs!

P.S.--Actually, I take back what I said about the Heidi braids last month. Mary looks lovely in her version.

Corinne Bailey Rae was my pick of the night. And, Mary actually started wearing the wrap around braid before Sienna Miller. She wore it on the cover of her album, The Breakthrough, and I guess recreated the look for good luck at the awards.

Mary J Blige has become my least favorite now due to her actions, her interview beforehand saying she had the best album and then her intense clapping whenever her name was mentioned.
Beyonce I thought was over-accessorized for her performance.

I thought Carrie Underwood looked beautiful, but I love her so maybe I'm biased! I thought her performance with Rascal Flatts was one of the best ones of the night.

I thought that the belt on that Michael Kors dress was straight out f JC Penney circa 1985--wait! I feel that way about everything in his line at Lord & Taylor, too. Yeah, I was not digging that dress.

LeAnne Rhymes was my favorite because I loved the green and chocolate pairing. Those earrings made her outfit. I also like Carrie Underwoods arrival dress (not that green one she wore to perform).

Best fit went to ScarJo. Her body looked fantastic in that little black dress. I'm not a fan of that hair color or her makeup, but the dress was perfect for her.

Mary's got the braid on her Breakthrough CD cover so it's not a new thing for her, she rocked it for a bit, let it go, brought it back. & she wore it well. Sienna's a different story. I thought Hilary Duff looked messy and Mandy Moore looked like she was running late and forgot to do something with her hair.

Actually, Mary J. Blige has worn the Heidi braid for well over a year (almost two years in fact). She was one of the first (if not the first) celebrity to wear it. I loved Christina's look and was very pleased with her decision to wear soft makeup.

Everyone: Your right about Mary's hair. I own this CD and I never noticed it before.
So Sienna was pulling a Mary J Blige...but without the tidy and neat vibe.

Melanie: LOL
That Kors stuff in that store was off the hook.

MJB's braid may just become her trademark. It's HER braid and she owns it like she owns her voice. Maybe I'm partial to her because we are both from Queens, but I would make no comparison to SM's braid, which is often untidy and messy. Mary was also wearing her braided crown long before Ms. Miller was. IMO, Mary rocks HER braid because it is always well placed on her head, neat and chic.
