40 Days and 40 Nights of Beauty Brands Reviews
22 day, Laura Mercier
Cavewoman: Most of the popular cosmetic items at the Laura Mercier counter have not proven to work well for me. Mercier focuses on the flawless face, but nothing I had tried from this line gave me flawless. So, stopping at the Mercier counter to check out what's new there is not high on my list of priorities. The only Mercier item I had ever purchased was an eyeshadow which I soon gave away.
But if I practice what I preach, that there is something great to be found at every counter, I still have to stop by and check out what's new at Mercier. And yes, there is something great at Mercier, in the form of a tiny jar of loose white powder called Secret Brightening Powder. Annie and I were allowing the Mercier SA to show us the product, but the stark white scared us a bit. But we love anything that promises brightening, so I allowed the SA to apply the Secret Brightening Powder on my under-eye area, over my concealer. I turned to Annie to ask what she thought of the results.
She gasped.
We bought!
Do not be afraid of the white. You won't even see it. What you will see is what's promised by the name, a brightening effect. This superfine powder disappears on the skin once it's applied, it does not settle into lines, it does not look like powder, it doesn't even feel like powder. It sets the concealer but it's weightless on the skin, and it prevents slippage or fading of concealer during the day. It gives the eye area a well-rested look, without changing the color of the concealer or making the under-eye area look strange or garish. It is a truly amazing little magical product, this Secret Brightening Powder.
I want to let the secret out!
Run to the Mercier counter and see for yourself.
Take a friend who can gasp and buy along with you.
Annieytown: Laura Mercier's Mineral Eye Powders were introduced to me by the beauty sage Shawn. He knew my extreme fondness for eye products that twinkle and sparkle.
These powders are chock full of shimmery goodness. Constellation is a plum shade with multi-colored glitter.
Asteroid is a smoky blue with an opal shimmer.
The colors have rich pigment with glitter and shimmer that does not fade.

Patty, I will try using my powder as you are, those are great ideas!
The LM body products get some good press, too. That Creme Brulee body cream smells lovely!
Now I want to try this powder too! The only LM product I own is her Wedding Party palette which I got as a bridesmaid's gift. The colors are lovely, very wearable but not amazing or unique. I want to try her body products.
cheers, Sara
Hello coachwife, I use the Mercier just under my eyes right now, but PattyG's suggestions sound great. I use the EA to carry in my purse for touchups. The LaMer is strictly an at-home product because the jar is so huge and heavy! I use it after I put on my foundation in the morning. HTH!
Hey annie i know this was several post ago but, I forgot to bookmark it. Can you tell us what the link to that perfume sample website is. The one who's owners are avid mua'ers. I'm not sure if they'll have it but I'm trying to find a sample of 2000 et une rose. Ebay only has the large size for like 290 and I can't afford to pay that much just to test something lol

Hello! I have avidly read this blog every day for about a year, but this is my first time posting. I'm not sure if this is the site that Kat is talking about, but I know this site: http://fragrantfripperies.com/store/index.html has samples of Mille & Une Roses available. I started searching for a sample as soon I read the description of the perfume! I also received a bottle of the Azuree Soleil fragrance yesterday and am thrilled! Love, love, love the blog!
Haven't tried any Laura Mercier, oddly enough, but that brightening powder sounds really nice.
I got to try Azuree Soleil, and whoa- it is a beauty. Blogged about it and the makeup line on my site.
It is going to cause a stampede I think.
Thanks Kelly That is the one!!

can i use the brightening powder as a finishing powder after my foundation and not just after concealer?
Anonymous, I don't see why not, it is worth a try. The jar is tiny, though. Are you very pale? It is a white powder, although under the eye it is invisible on me. I see on the Sephora site that now there are two colors, so you might want to experiment with this at a LM counter.
The only LM I've used is her Clementine Scrub which smells divine! That brightening powder is going on to the bulging wishlist...
I'm not really pale, more like a medium/olive color. what would be a good finishing powder that would like make me glowy/brighten me up besides LM?
I LOVE her brightening powder! I'm a medium (Asian) and this does not look too pale or white on me at all, It's like a little pot of magic. :)
I agree that the secret brightening powder is fabulous. I also love her secret concealer and the secret brightener pen, even though it's a bit difficult to control how much product you use with that one.
My other favorite LM products are her cake eyeliners. I discovered tightlining about 8 months ago and the difference is amazing--my eyes look awake and defined but not overly made-up. I have these in bleu marine, which is a beautiful smoky gray/navy color that's perfect for green, hazel and blue eyes, black ebony and mahogany brown. It took a bit of practice to learn the technique but now it doesn't take much time at all to tightline.
