Covergirl's True Blend Whipped Foundation

This $8.00 jar reminded me of my former holy grail foundation from Chantecaille. Chantecaille's Future Skin foundation gave a sheer light coverage, felt as luxurious as whipped cream and managed to make the skin look natural and fresh. It let the skin shine through instead of creating a mask or barrier.
Covergirl's version does all this but without the $60 price tag.

There are 15 shades ranging from 3 different ivorys to Soft Sable.
This product is available at most drugstores.

I have tried many of the CG foundations, and while the consistency and finish are nice, the color selection is pretty poor! I am quite fair, and there is no appropriate match for me, especially in the newer formulas. I think one of the biggest problems with drugstore foundations in general is the color range. Maybe cheaper pigments don't give the subtlety of the more expensive ones - or are they all the same?

Nina: I agree!
I also would add that testers in drugstores would help. There have been so many products that I have passed on because I can not gauge which shade is right for me.

This specific Covergirl foundation has three ivory shades...which impressed me. This does not give me the coverage of La Mer but it is a great sheer shade for summer.

BTW: What brand do you think has the best range of shades? Who does pale shades the best?

How did you feel about staying power with this CG? All day without creeping? I like sheer summer coverage (if I can find a color match) but it it starts to creep midday...ugh. That was the reason I left the drugstore brands, but in all fairness I have not been back in 5+ years and I'm sure things have gotten wa-ay better. Thanks for encouraging me to check them out! I've been so curious about this whipped foundation and seemed too good to be true. It's not that heavy? I love love love the price. :)

Hi again! I think that of the department store brands, Bobbi Brown has a huge color range,Laura Mercier, Armani, and Becca have good selections as well. I have seen the "new" L'oreal (colormatch or something?) but I just don't buy the drugstore foundations anymore - too much disappointment! If you can only splurge on one makeup item, foundation should be the one.

I'm with Nina, by the time I buy several drugstore products to find my perfect shade and texture, I could have gotten someone in a dept store to help me find the perfect one and purchase once!

Nina/Annie/BeautyChick -- I share your frustration and the last time I bought a foundation that was way off (Neutrogena, this time), I took it back to CVS. They took it back, no questions asked.
BTW, if you're looking for drugstore brands w/ testers and you're in Manhattan, check out Cosmetic Show on 55th b/w Third and Lex. They have testers and good prices. I'm never sure how old/new the merch is, but you can always go to your local drugstore afterwards, or order online.

Gables: The lasting power is good.
I was surprised.
It is no La Mer but it gives Chanetcaille a run for its money.
