Brushed With Greatness Project
Blogdorf's "Brushed with Greatness" Project begins this week.
Cavewoman and I will write about our favorite makeup brushes. This project was inspired by my co-worker Sandy who spied a Nars Kabuki Artisan Botan Brush in Texas.
It was love at first sight.
Nars brushes are pretty magnificent and smitten worthy. My personal favorite is my bronzer brush. It has a lot of "junk in the trunk" bristles and a sturdy handle. It is perfect for powder and my beloved Estee Lauder Tom Ford Bronzer.
What are your favorite "can not live without" brushes? Let us know in the comments!

Kevyn Aucoin Large Blush Brush!!
I like MAC #190 for foundation and #187 for powder highlighters. I also just purchased one of the MAC Nordstrom Anniversary sets for travel as well. Shu's brushes are great too, but outrageously expensive! For cheap, you can't beat Sonia Kashuk or Essence of Beauty.
i use a lot of brushes from the body shop (and i don't know anyone else who does), that came about from a tip by the MA at the trish mcevoy counter who said they loved their brushes too.
my favorite brush that i own is TBS's eyeshadow blender brush. it's perfect. i have three of them, and don't feel bad at the price i paid!
I love:
MAC 266 - great for filling in eyebrows and the *perfect* winged eyeliner.
Pout Airbrush (skunk brush) - Essential for pigmented blushes and blending for the perfect flush.
Sephora Bronzer (black handle) - I like this dense brush for applying my mineral makeup, the kabukis I have tried never gave an even application.
Sonia Kashuk Smudge - $5!!! A neat little brush to gently smoke and smudge my liner. Great for everyday and night time eyes.
i can't stand sonia kashuk brushes. i brought sonia kashuk target brushes & had to return them all. when i took them out of the packaging, the brushes had foul/unpleasant smell & poor handle.
Good makeup brushes such as NARS have weighed handle. I love NARS push eyeliner brush.
My favorite brush by far is the cheap angled Sephora blush brush. It deposits the right amount of blush giving me a natural look.
I've always LOVED my Stila # 24 double sided brush... good for blush or bronzer or highligher... :)
I also love Laura Mercier's Creme Cheek Colour brush for cream blushes... :)
great idea for a post. I love your blog!
The Body Shop makes amazing brushes and most of them are under 25 dollars! I have slanted, stiff-bristled eyeliner brush and foundation brush. I purchased both for under 30$.
I love all of my Essence of Beauty brushes especially the powder brush. And I have all the MAC Icon Diana Ross brushed that are pink. I just love how they look.
i love my japonesque foundation brush. it's super cheap, too.
I love my MAC 182 brush (the short handled buffer brush). I use it for my face powder, and for putting on my Mineralized Skin Finish Natural. I didn't really use my blot powder until I tried putting it on with this brush, because it went on too heavy with the sponge. The brush gives just enough product, and it buffs it out nicely. I have it in a ziploc bag in my purse.
I am a MAC brush devotee! I have about 12 assorted right now (5 for just eyes). But recently I read -- at Shake Your Beauty, I think -- about Prescriptives brushes. I saw one at a Cosmetics Company store and for the outlet price I decided to give it a test drive. The brushes are incredibly soft -- I hardly feel them on my skin which is a bigger b/c I have sensitive skin that gets red when anything touches it :/ -- but they don't feel as weighted as the Mac handles and I like that heft in my hand. It helps me with application.
MAC 217 for shading and blending
Japonesque 232 for definition and depth.
hi Annie,
i forgot it's brush week! i am liking what i see... my beauty budget is in trouble!!
I can't live without my Shu Uemura portables. 5 portables is all I need for normal days.
17 pony--face, cheek, powder, all over eye base, sometimes for eyeshadows too for a dramatic soft gradation(carefully)
10 sable/kolinsky--foundation, eye, soft liner, sometimes crease
6M sable--liner, highlight corner of eye, sometimes crease
6OB badger--eyebrow
kolinsky extra lip--to apply all lip stuff
Of course, shu brushes are so expensive and the 17 pony is hardly big enough for the face, so I have a Sephora travel set and 9 Bare Minerals brush for all other purposes
