From Yahoo News:

When Renee Zellweger arrived red-faced at the premiere of her new film 'Bee Movie', she left her fans wondering that the petite actress might be overdoing her beauty treatments.
The 38-year old star appeared with ruddy raw cheeks and forehead at the event.
Zellweger is known to follow harsh beauty routines which includes-'facial sandblasting', before she makes a red-carpet appearance, reports the Daily Mail.
Before every premiere, the 'Jerry Maguire' star undergoes a three-hour process of 'sandblasting', which is designed to rid her skin of blemishes and keep her looking young and fresh.
The treatment, which costs 145 pounds, includes applying of special oxygen and milk facemask dubbed a 'pre-extraction oxygen wrap', and the face is covered in two layers of cling film.
When it is removed an oxygen spray containing vitamins is sprayed on the face and neck. It purports to kill surface bacteria to help keep skin clear and blemish-free.
Then comes the hour-long "sandblasting", in which aluminium oxide crystals are sprayed on to the face to reduce age spots and sun damage, and smooth out fine lines and wrinkles.
However, beauty therapists have warned that the process could leave the skin red and traumatised for up to a day later.
It is said that Zellweger loves the dramatic effects that the "sandblast" facial provides.

Has anyone ever done this treatment before? Let us know in the comments.

I wonder: How is 'sand-blasting' diffrent from microdermabrasion? Is it supposed to be gentler (recovery from microdermabrasion can take more than a day or two)? From the look of Ms. Zellweger, I doubt it.

This just makes me think of the episode of Sex and the City when Samantha shows up all raw-faced to Carrie's book party :)

It may not be the treatment, but the fact that her skin is very fair, a signt not too common in entertainment industry. Redness shows up a lot more prominently on very fair people even if it's just a flush. It could be just poorly applied blush. It happens, even in Hollywood.

Yes, I've had microdermabrasion before. My face felt like a cat's tongue the next day. But a week later, it looked really great. I thought about buying a package. They say you need 5 treatments to get rid of sun damage by the time you are 35.

I think professional glycolic treatments work better than microdermabrasion... especially if you do them consistently (once a month). I've never tried sand-blasting. My issue with Renee is her chapped lips! They look like they're going to crack!

Many people feel that their title="acne" href="http://www.skinmed.co.uk" >acne< is overly

embarrassing and
unmanageable. I have read story after story of heartache, especially
from teens that endure heartless bullying from schoolmates. There are
so many different remedies and medications. What most people fail to
realise is that each individual has a different biological makeup and
what works for one person may not work for everyone. In some cases
certain acne treatment can adversely affect already irritated skin.
This further causes unnecessary embarrassment and frustration to an
already uncomfortable situation.
Propaganda fuels misconceptions about different so-called remedies and
even causes. The idea that chocolate and oily food causes acne. When in
truth, makeup, unhealthy skin and even perspiration can cause acne.
All of these factors affect the skin. But even your skin makeup can
affect your skin and create back acne, scalp acne, large assesses or
ingrown hair. There is an acne questionnaire done by a company called
Skinmed that will help to diagnose acne problems through a series of
questions, and then it n recommends the best acne treatment for each
individual.
Teen acne is typically the most difficult to diagnose because of
hormonal considerations, but there is a special area meant just for
teen acne that has a completely different set of rules when running the
formula that determines the best medications or treatments. In some
cases simple changes in hygiene and daily washing is all that it takes.
The site also has a title "free acne/rosacea cream" title="acne"

href="http://www.skinmed.co.uk" >free acne treatment/a that is made up
of a three step process. The primary reason most teens, especially boys
tend to have more problems with chronic acne is because of a lack of
simply washing their face regularly. So this treatment is free is a way
to create a healthy daily routine, while gently healing the skin to
prevent acne scarring brought on as a result of squeezing the sores.
Once daily cleaning is practices, and hormonal issues are taken into
consideration, a proper treatment regiment can be highly affective.
At the end of the day most acne, even teen acne , can be eliminated
quickly and permanently with the right motivation. After all, we all
want to be beautiful don’t we?

Renee has been confirmed in having Rosacea, which would probably explain the redness. People with Rosacea have extra-sensitive facial veins and capillaries, so "sand-blasting" or microdermabrasions should generally be avoided to prevent further inflammation. There are usually many different treatment options to combat redness, but she has never been quoted as to using any. Her face was reddish in Brigit Jone's Diary, but she just looks healthy. In movies like Chicago, in which she wore a little makeup, you couldn't even tell.
