Swoonworthy Primer: Velvet Veil by Face Time
I am a firm believer in the power of primer products. Primers can change how makeup stays on your skin. Before primers, my makeup would not stay survive a full work day. It would slowly disappear bit by bit until there were just threads of foundation and powder. I hated the hassle of reapplying or constantly whipping out a mirror for touch ups. I wanted my makeup to last at least 8 hours with just an occasional whack of a powder puff.
Smashbox Primer was originally my savior along with primers from countless brands. I thought I was satisfied until I met Velvet Veil.
Velvet Veil is a silicon based primer with added jojoba. This ingredient makes the Velvet Veil formula extra velvety in comparison to its competition.
Besides feeling fabulous, this primer performs better than other silicon based primers.
I wore Velvet Veil with my usual foundation of choice, La Mer. I set it with Caron Madame powder and wore a mixture of Chanel and Nars blushes. My makeup not only survived a rough work day but it survived intact and fresh all night.
I went to bed early on Friday with a fever and chills.
I was miserable so there was no energy or time to wash my face.
I was aware of the consequences but I did not care.
I woke up in the morning and remembered that my makeup was still on.
As a beauty blogger, this is a crime that should not be repeated in public let alone on the blog.
However, I have to post about the amazing results.
My makeup had no budged.
It did not fade, smear, or disappear.
It was still all there in its glory.
I could have literally went out with the face that greeted me in the mirror. My foundation and blush looked freshly applied. My Caron powder still shimmered brightly.
I blinked a few times and then went over to my makeup drawer and pitched my Smashbox primer tube.
I gush often but consider this review one of my most passionate raves.
I am smitten and will never be without this adorable tube.
It is priced at $22 and is currently available at the website.

I am laughing right now... I do hope you're feeling better, but this was a great (and funny!) review.
You are playing with fire sleeping with a new product on your face, but I'm glad it worked out for you. I want someone who uses Bare Escentuals to post a comment to review of this product!
melanie is right! although, i just discovered a new primer last weekend that i am in love with. i break out with smashbox so i am in love with shu under base. (apparently mr. shu's favorite product!)
Their shipping & handling charges are very high. It had better be as good as you say!!
Their website is adorable! They actually have free shipping...there arn't any shipping charges!! I am ordering two now...
Anon: I swear on my perfume collection...that this primer kicks ass. It is the best I have ever tried.
Now..I hope you like silicon based primers.
Girl: I want to try that Shu!!!!
Girl: I found I had the ame problem w. Smashbox, in addition to the pilling and peeling it did. I don't know why anyone uses it.
I use Clarin's Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch and I have to say it keeps my face matte, moist and line-free, but I'm not sure that it keeps my makeup in place for very long...
Annie, you know how I love primers as much as you do, and our Ceil just found four Prima Viso's for me on clearance at Dillards, but did that stop me from running to the site to order this? No! And shipping is free! I even opted for next day shipping and it is still free! I am so eager to try this! I will let you know if indeed it shows up tomorrow. Thanks for the tip! Free next day shipping? Wow!

It's crazy that your makeup was intact after an entire night's sleep! That's brilliant.
Hope you're feeling better,

How many ounces are in this little darling?
I hope you are feeling better. Thanks for the review, I"m going to snatch some up. Do you think the jojoba oil will be bad for us girls with oily skin?
Is this product sold in any stores?
Jojoba is actually really great for any type of skin. Its all natural so it doesn't irritate the skin in anyway.
You had me at "did not smear, fade or disappear". I did not hesitate to hop right over to the website and order this miracle product.
I just went on this website and I found these Beauty In a Boxes and ordered the Romantic. I am getting married in a few months and my makeup problems now may be solved. If I like the Romantic box, I may get custom boxes made for my wedding party and give them as gifts. How cool that their names are written on the boxes by a calligrapher! Has anyone tried one of these Beauty In a Boxes yet? I will let you know how I like mine.
Does anyone know anything else about the other products? I can't tell if their shadows are matte, frost, etc. but I'm always searching for shadows that will stay on my oily eyelid. Can't wait to try this fab product! Thanks Blogdorf!
I ordered a few eyeshadows and the Upper Crust Dust. I will let you know how it goes. The packaging is adorable and I love the name Upper Crust Dust and Well to Hue for the shadows. Super cute. I will keep you posted.
To Blogdorf readers, yes! The next day air is free shipping and it did arrive today! I could not wait to try it. So far so good! I would definitely say this is for skin that is normal to combo, it feels a bit drying on me, but I am planning to experiment with it, with different combinations of moisturizers and serums and also foundations.
I could not believe it arrived today! Less than 24 hours after ordering! Free next day ship!

Would someone post the primer's ingredients? I couldn't find these on the web site. Thanks!

I received the Romantic Beauty In a Box today...I AM IN LOVE! I can't believe this is only $90. First of all, there is the cutest "Face Card" that tells me how to apply the makeup as if the makeup artist was actually sitting with me doing it. The actual makeup is really good quality. I followed the video on the website and went out for drinks tonight. I received a million compliments. I am definitely getting these for my briadal party for their gifts...Ugh I am so glad you posted this or I would have never known. Thanks!! (p.s. packaging is adorable)
I hope you're feeling better Annie, but if you actually pitched your Smashbox that you've loved for so long, I can't wait to try this prooduct!
I'm currently using Studio Fix Foundation, I've been afraid of using it over a primer, I was afraid the powder would stick oddly to it.... If someone tries a powder foundation, let all of us know!
I am so excited to see the responses in this thread! I also got an eyeshadow but have not tested it yet. There has been no need for makeup since I have been in bed all week. My nail polish held up rather well...since I did not work or blog. LOL
CB: I promise to check my primer tube for the ingredients ASAP.
If you like the eyeshadow will you review it for us? I would love to know how their other products are because the packaging is so elegant and cute. Also have you tried the Upper Crust Dust? I would love to know about that too. Let us know! Thank you for the info.
It seems like you found the next hot make-up line for us. Thanks for being on the lookout. Just bought a Velvet Veil!
My Velvet Veil just arrived today! A quick hand-swatch comparison between this and my previous primer, Tarte Clean Slate, shows the Tarte to be much thinner and less "velvety" than the newcomer! Looking forward to trying it out tomorrow with makeup.
I just ordered this. You've never steered me wrong before. I will let you know what I think.
I am not sure what you have all been using because I tried these products and they were awful! The eyeshadow pretty much disappeared into my lids, and the primer made my foundation look cakey. The lipstick lasted all of 10 minutes. I'll keep looking for the "next hot makeup line" because this is NOT it!
