40 Days and 40 Nights of Beauty Cult Classics
Day 20 , Chantecaille Frangipane
This is another scent recommendation from Impishnature. Once again this fragrance was a departure from every fragrance that I held dear. This time I was captivated by a jasmine. It was sensual and intense.
The notes are vanilla, jasmine, Moroccan orange, and water hyacinth. The water hyacinth note is tricky. This smells exactly like a cucumber.
The note can be brief or long lasting depending on your skin chemistry. It plays an important part in the drydown along with the rich vanilla beans.
The reason why I have included this scent in the cult classic series is due to the Aniston Effect. I am talking about Jennifer Aniston.
Jennifer has managed to win the hearts of the public. I have no clue on why that is other than on her "girl next door" quality.
When I announced that I was on Team Jolie...I got hate mail...from friends. (LOL)
Aniston announced in some nameless magazine article that this was her favorite fragrance. Soon after, this scent was nearly impossible to find.
If the perfume was good enough for Brad Pitt...then it was good enough for everybody else.
It was sold out at Bergdorf and Barneys for months.
There were wait lists.
I managed to get a bottle from Chicago courtesy of Cavewoman.
You know a product is a cult classic if you have to go through extraordinary channels to get your hands on it.
Fragrance junkies: Do you agree? Do you think it is a cult classic or a bust? Let me know in the comments....

It is a beautiful scent, soft and sexy, but it isn't terribly deep or complex. I don't get a lot of layers to Aniston's acting--she's very much a small-screen presence to me, who doesn't translate well to the big screen--so to me Frangipane is quite in keeping with that. I realize I am sounding like I dislike the scent but I don't at all, it's lovely, easy to wear and perfect for a sultry summer evening.
I cannot understand the Jennifer Aniston fans. She is the blandest.
I used to love Frangipane (Impish sent me my first sample!) and bought a whole bottle but ended up decanting most of it for swaps after all. Decant worthy but not FB worthy, IMHO. Best of the Chantecaille fragrances for sure, though.
I'm also on team Jolie. Well, no, I don't much care about AJ, I just don't want to be on a losing team (Aniston).
I agree with Tania. Aniston is the blandest. And the plainest, in my opinion.
I fell in love with a Vanilla-y Chantecaille fragrance back at CO Bigelow, but I'm not sure if it was Frangipane. I'll have to go back and give it another whiff.
I'm a little late coming to the party but I must say this is one incredible fragrance. I don't care how complex it is or isn't. It just smells really good. And maybe you think Aniston is boring but it's not her fault that she went up against Jolie and lost. Of course she lost, Angelina is quite possibly the most beautiful woman on earth. And I'm sure all of OUR husbands or boyfriends would leave us for her. Jen's a cute girl and we can't fault her for her because her husband was weak. Anyway this perfume is just divine... and I bet he misses it. It smells like home. Like a girl who doesn't try too hard.
