Blogdorf Earth
My father has wanted me to do a green themed week since I started the blog. He has been "green" since I was a tiny tot. Dad recycled before there were organized programs. My father was a compost pile expert by the time I was in high school in the 1980's. He uses only organic products and is quite passionate on all things environmental and Al Gore.
These posts will delight him.
Bond No 9 has a recycling program.
You can bring your empty perfume bottles to a Bond No.9 boutique or Saks Fifth Avenue Store and receive a free refillable pocket spray with any Bond fragrance purchase.
The bottles will be sanitized, refurbished, refilled and decorated to announce its reuse to the consumer. All other bottles will be inspected to determine if they are recyclable or not;then sorted and sent to the appropriate facility for glass, plastic and metal recycling.
They are also accepting and recycling perfume bottles from the competition. They will recycle Guerlain to Hilary Duff.
My father thought that was very cool.
Let me know what other recycle programs are being offered by beauty brands in the comments.

MAC has one of the best recycling programs, where you can return 6 of their empties and get a free lipstick, lipgloss or eyeshadow for your part in the recycling process. Back2MAC is a fantastic program and it would be nice if other companies followed suit.
I was gonna say that when I bought a new kohl eyeliner at MAC last week they mentioned that prgoram. I'm not the hugest MAC enthusiast but this initiative made me like them more!
I also like Cargo's plantable packaging- so cute!

Some LUSH stores have a MAC-type recycling program. Bring back 5 empty containers (shower gel bottles, lotion tubs, mask containers, etc) for a free item. What you get seems to vary between stores (my local shop gives a 1/4 piece of soap, others do masks or bath bombs).
Fresh has a special black tote you can purchase in an effort to cut down on shopping bags and packaging. The tote gives you 10% off every time you shop in their stores with it.
I know they are also working on reducing their packaging in general and I suggested a recycling program which I think has promise for them.
On April 22 they are donating 10% off all sales to The Climate Group and the tote is being sold for 12.50 (normally 25) and is free with a 100 dollars purchase. It's a really cute bag. Here is a link to the program for those interested.

just click on the Earth Day banner.
Cargo has those great plantable lipstick containers, I think that's a great idea!
LUSH also does the tote/10% thing like Fresh.
I've always been surprised that Origins doesn't have a program. Seems like a logical part of their vibe.
Too funny about your Dad! Mine was the same way when we were growing up (in the 70s). Now I live in a town the majority of people still say "Recycling???" as though it's the craziest notion they've ever heard and there is still no curbside recycling. It just amazes me. Molly
Your father sounds like an amazing person!
Very cool!! I think I'd travel to a Saks to recycle my bottle once it's empty.
I just received an e-mail from Kiehl's that the first 50 to the store today that return a used container will receive a tote. Wish I lived near a store!
Really loving that recycling is getting bigger. My Dad was the one that was interested in our house too!

I love the MAC program.
I wish La Mer would do one too. I have been saving my foundation jars...just in case. LOL
