Just Picked for Spring 2008!
By Melanie Parker
Often times I like to focus on nail polish colors that are new, but in this review I will focus on what's right now. Sally Hansen's Salon formula Spring collaboration with designer Tracy Reese is a triumph. Despite the "Salon" name, this brand is available at drug stores for about $6 and features some exceptional colors. Look for free standing displays that are set apart from the other Sally Hansen polishes. My favorite is this rich, jewel-toned jelly finished polish called Sultry Fuchsia. I liked it so much I actually had a matching manicure and pedicure going for a few days--and that rarely happens with so many colors available. The translucent quality of this jelly finish is subtle in this sheen because of the deep pinkish red hue. It's yummy!
Other standouts in this Sally Hansen Salon Spring collection are Tunisian Sand (which is a shimmery neutral shade that looks subdued and sophisticated) and Arabian Night (which is one of the most unique colors I have ever seen in a Sally Hansen polish). Arabian Night's dusty grape-colored base is sprinkled with antique gold-colored speckles. It doesn't work with all skin tones, but if you love shades of violet, it is a must-have. Since the displays for this line only offer two of each color, these three shades are selling fast! There is also a Limited Edition silver foil-finished polish called Sterling out now.
My other pick for right now is OPI's Yoga-ta Get This Blue! I didn't listen to the name and waited a few months after the India collection came out to cave in on this color. Last Fall when the "blue is the new black" nail polish trend hit hard with Chanel's Blue Satin, I got burned out. All of the blues I tried rendered themselves black in most light and made me feel a little self-conscious. However, this OPI is a true cobalt blue shimmer that is distinguishable in any lighting condition. It's a great color for toes this Spring and Summer.

Great colors! Tracey Reese is so fab, it's nice to know you can score something of hers for so little - thanks for posting.
I agree! All of those colors are wonderful! and they wear really well.
I swooped down on my local drugstore's display and snagged the majority of the polishes -- I'm really excited to try the colors out (haven't gotten to it yet!). I hunted two separate stores for weeks before I saw the displays pop up!
I have the Sally Hansen in Sultry Fuschia and Arabian Nights, they are gorgeous! I also have Chanel Blue Satin and O.P.I. Yoga-ta Get This Blue, and I honestly agree that Blue Satin really wasn't as special as it was made out to be, it's definitely quite a bit more on the black side than the O.P.I. Quite frankly, I actually think Yoga-ta Get This Blue has the better color of the two. I'm transitioning into my RBL Purple Haze, Yellow Fever, and Concrete Jungle now and all my CND Hot Pop brights when summer really gets goin.
What a coincidence! I'm wearing both of these colors on my tips today. (Yeah, one finger is Sultry Fuschia, and the rest are Yoga-ta. I'm weird sometimes.) Love them both, but the brush that came with my Yoga-ta bottle is a bit splayed and not terribly precise. I haven't had any luck finding the Tracey Reese SH polishes locally, but I'll keep looking. I got Sultry Fuschia through a swap.
I love that blue! I'm absolutely going to find it tomorrow. Thanks for the info.
I love the OPI blue! When I wear it, I always receive a ton of compliments! :)
I have Sultry Fuchsia, Tunisian Sand, Spicy Scarlet, and Arabian Nights from the Tracy Reese collection. I love all the colors and can't believe how good the staying power is!
I LOVE that blue.. it looks gorgeous on....! makes me want to paint my nails..
