Blogdorf Goodman's Concealer Chronicles
I have started this blog project due to my hunt for a holy grail worthy concealer. I had been blessed with no issues or situations concerning my eye area until this year. Today I am struggling with extra baggage and dark circles.
I have a huge fight on my hands to distract the aging process and to mask the effects of stress.
My first review is Philosophy's Supernatural
Airbrushed Color Corrector Concealer Palette. I am loving the effects so far. It manages to mask imperfections and not cake up. I love the variety of shades. I use the dark concealer for around my nose and the middle shade for everything else. The formula is very creamy and fairly moisturizing.
I am not sure if it is holy grail worthy but so far so good.
It retails for $25.

Have you considered trying the new Normaderm concealer? I haven't tried it, but would love to get a review of it!
I am dying to try this! Yours is the 2nd rave for this product -- BellaSugar.com posted B&A pics with this product, and the results were nothing short of amazing!
oh my gosh -- I am excited about your quest because recently I too have had significant new undereye baggage and haven't been happy with my previous concealer choices.
You should also try Cle de Peu Beaute's (sp?) concealer. I always seen this touted as the concealer to end all imperfections.
As a make-up artist I found my Holy Grail of concealers: Biotherm's Forget It concealer. Formulated by make-up artist Ellis Faas the product covers dark circles perfectly and gives a skin-like finish with a very subtle sheen. It's like YSL and a concealer in one. I used to always cover the blue/purple with number 30 because it had more orange in it and then finish off with number 20 which is a perfect neutral color. This concealer never creased and stayed on perfectly all day!
What do you think they do? The discontinue the product!
Now I either use Estée Lauder Maximum Cover foundation as a concealer (for very dark circles, covers perfectly and blends into skin) or Maybelline Age Rewind concealer and highlighter duo (absolutely worth a try for just $8.00, amazing light textured and covering concealer and great highlighter)I also have the Clé de Peau concealer but I find it creases and is a little on the thick side...
Don't bother with the Laura Mercier duo - too thick and they caked in my little undereye lines. Better for paint on applications to things that don't crease the way an eye does.
You should try Prescriptives Custom Blend Concealer. You will love it! It is made just for you!
Believe it or not, my all-time fave is still Mary Kay Signature Concealer ... haven't found ANYTHING I like even remotely close to this.
xo
i have HORRIBLE genetic dark circles that don't respond to sleep, diet changes, allergy medicine, nada! i have tried a billion concealers and although i was loyal to Laura Mercier's Secret Concealer for a while, the best one i have ever found is Bobbi Brown's Corrector in Light Bisque. if your circles are purplish or blueish, the Bisque shades will work for you, but if your circles are more brown toned, the Peach colors will mask them. Although some use Bobbi Brown's concealer on top of the corrector, i don't even need to, that's how fabulous the Corrector is. another WONDERFUL concealer is Amazing Cosmetics Amazing Concealer, it is a heavy duty, highly pigmented and concentrated concealer and it works wonders for circles. sometimes when mine are particularly bad, i use the corrector and then pat on a few tiny dots of Amazing concealer on the darkest parts of my circles, and voila! they're gone. you should definitely atleast stop by the BB counter and check out the corrector, for me it was a life changing experience!!!
I also recommend BB corrector and then concealor on top!
I use 3 Custom Color's compact creme concealer and it works just fine.
I used to use Make Up For Ever's 5 Concealer Compact; it looks seamless (as if I'm not wearing makeup) but it never stayed put; the concealer seemed to fade after an hour or two.
i wish any concealer would look good on me... having pale olive skin is really annoying! i'll be following your pursuit with avid interest.
I'm going to eagerly follow your quest. I need some additional advice: how do you keep concealer from caking in the creases?
OK, I don't have many HG worthy items.. but concealer is the ONE thing I feel I have secured on my list! :)
Clinique line smoothing concealer in 02 Light.
I have terrible undereye circles, always have- and this stuff is perfect all around! <3
I hope someone else out there feels the same! PLMK :P
Thanks for doing this project as I am tormented by dark circles and have yet to find a perfect concealer. Estee Lauder discontinued my fav product, which was Minute Stick Foundation that was AMAZING. If you can get ahold of some, I would love to see you review Makeup Forever's concealer that I hear is great and Lancome has a waterproof(?) concealer that gets raves. Cle de Peau was really drying and creased on me so that one is a big no in my book (can't see why it's getting such raves in mags). Good luck!
i also have really bad, genetic dark circles, and the only product i have ever found that has been able to cover them is Clinique's Advanced Concealer in Medium and Light. i mix the 2 colors together to get the perfect shade for my skin. the light, for some reason, is much drier than the medium, so it also helps in that aspect that i mix them. i could not live without it.
I'm constantly trying concealers, Annie, especially since my skin has turned dry practically overnight. I'm really liking two Lauder products, the new Resilience Lift Extreme (it's a twist-up stick) and also the Lauder Ideal Light in the Soft Pink color (which isn't pink, it's more peach.) Both are nice and moist and don't turn dry on the skin. I use my L'Oreal Skin Genesis eye serum first, then I use Prescriptives Vibrant Eye over that. The Vibrant Eye has a nice luminosity, just like their Magic products. Concealer goes over that. I'm sure many readers would say, that's alot of product, three steps, but it's working for me so far. I'd love to be able to dot on some concealer and go, but I need the moisturizing under it these days.
I have the same problem with horrific and stubborn dark circles with the added bonus of puffiness which is all the more frustrating since I'm only 21 and my mom who is 49 doesn't even have dark circles this dreadful. I am now using a regimen of Murad Lighten & Brighten Eye Treatment at night before bed and Prescriptives Vibrant-C Eye Cream with Stila Perfecting Concealer in the morning. Out of the vast combos of products and treatments I have tried over the past several years this has been by far the most successful. I am excited to read more of your "concealer chronicles".
on another subject, (and my second comment on this post) i have battled my circles for so long i had completely given up on finding anything to help them fade or disappear (especially after trying Hylexin, that piece of SHIT no good rip-off!) until i got a sample of Elizabeth Arden Prevage eye treatment. i began using it just because i loved how well it moisturized and it is supposed to help prevent fine lines, but i was SHOCKED, STUNNED, and BLOWN AWAY by the fact that it significantly reduced the darkness of my circles! now of course, they aren't completely gone but i would say that Prevage has reduced them by almost 50%, which to me is a MIRACLE! so now i'm hooked and furious that it's so expensive, but one bottle lasts me about 4 months with a nightly application. maybe this will help someone else! hope so!
Yay! I am so into this concealer palette lately. It looks so natural when it's on. I hope it continues to treat you well — then I have proof to show my boyfriend that I'm not kooky for loving it this much.
Also, I recently tried the Cle de Peau concealer at Bloomingdale's. The consistency and texture is amazing, but I just can't bring myself to spend $68 on a concealer. :/
you should try the shu uemura concealer!
I have the airbrushed palette as well, but I wasn't as impressed with it as you seem to be. My skin is very dry, and it seemed to make the dryness more visible, even when I moisturized before using it. I am always on the lookout for a HG concealer. Right now, I am using Loreal Infallible.
I tried this and was not impressed because although it covered well it did not last long at all.
I'm gonna add my voice to the chorus of people telling you to try Prescriptives concealers. I haven't shelled out the cash for a custom blend one yet, but I repurchased their Flawless Skin concealer after using it every day for a year. I have such issues with concealers and that one is amazing.
