With Real Crushed Diamonds by Cavewoman
I should call this post 'things you find when you are looking for other things.' I ran into Victoria's Secret a few days ago, a store into which I rarely venture, since most of their offerings just don't suit me very well. I went in to take a sniff of one of their fragrances, which didn't impress me very much since now I can't even remember the name of it. But in our local VS store, there is a small display of the store brand cosmetics. I was browsing and testing colors, and I happened upon a small square box called Very Sexy Diamond Lust Face Powder. There was no display or tester for this powder, so I asked the SA nearby if I could open it to see what it looked like. She said 'Of course!' and came over to look, too. When I opened the sleek black compact, I was giddy! The pressed powder is composed of different shapes and sizes of 'gems' with the thinnest black 'facet' lines, and shimmery (I'm hooked now) shades of rose, pink, copper and gold. I caved. It cost barely more than drugstore powders these days, and even though I have no idea what I am going to do with it, it is at least a new item in my compact collection. On the edge of the box, these words are printed in red: 'With real CRUSHED DIAMONDS' -- I wonder what diamonds are going to look like on my face. It reminds me of the Guerlain primer with the gold flakes suspended in the serum. Where did those gold flakes go? I never did figure that out. I'll let Blogdorf readers know if my face starts looking like a DeBeers ad after I try the new powder.
That is, if I can bear to use it.

Is it an all over powder or a blush?
I must have one.
*contemplates going out for lunch to VS*
Heroine, I have NO idea! It looks like too much color for an overall powder, but it might be sheer enough. I'll let you know when I try it.
Food, did you cave???
Patti
I need you to try this immediately LOL! I'm dying to see what you think of it so I can buy it (or not)!
Did you happen to see their new glosses as well (the 3-shaded ones)?
You made me buy the Carmindy foundation due to your raves (and I LOVE it, so many thanks to you!) ... so let's see what you say about this palette ... :-)
Christine
I just looked around the website and I couldn't find it! Is it gone? can someone link me maybe?
Way to go, Patti! I've been scoping out my local VS waiting for just that palette and still no dice! whew ..... can't wait to try now that I've read your encounter! xo
Ok everyone, in the name of research, I have tested it! With a blush brush, I swiped across the entire surface and applied it as a blush. Verdict: it's not a blush. It's very shiny-frosty. It did not seem to add any color at all. The DH said "eww, it looks makeuppy."
Then I took a small shadow brush and swiped across the middle shade which is a light pink. It is a beautiful highlighting shadow!
Next, I removed all of the blush application and re-did my entire face (primer, foundation) and then took a stippling brush and lightly swept it across the entire surface of the powder again. This time I applied with a light hand. Verdict: glow. No shimmer particles, justa peachy-golden glow.
Final evaluation: It's a very evening-type look for me personally, but the second, lighter application (over the foundation) got a nice compliment from the DH. He said it looked pretty, and natural! (Granted, I forced him to choose a few adjectives!)
VS must have crushed those diamonds really well!
Did I mention that this powder is made in Italy? Some of the most fabulous face powders, highlighters, and blushes that I have are made in Italy.
I'm glad I bought this pretty powder!

Thanks Patti!!!!!!!!!!
let me just say that I loveee this powder...i came upon it pretty late in the game (the people at the VS i went into were nice enough to sell me the tester) and it is a greattttt highlighter! Def not a blush...I use bareminerals...so what I do is, do my face with the bareminerals, put on the bareminerals "warmth" (which is a general bronzer), then apply NARS orgasm mixed with Benefit Dandelion as my blush (note: I like to brush blush across my forehead, on my browbones and down my nose just a bit for a sun-exposed look) then I use this powder over the same areas I put my blush, and also a bit on the middle of my chin.
Overall its a great highlighter that makes you look like you are glowing and/or at the beach all day, and in combination with the right blush, can really pop!
I love it and recommend highly, although it was part of a limited edition collection and from what I understand is pretty much sold out everywhere! Keep an eye for it at the sales, VS loves to bring LE products around at sales for dirt-cheap prices! :)
*oh btw, let me correct myself, they sold me the blush that was inside the display case, which is untouched, not the tester, that would be gross, LOL sorryyyy
