I have been itching to try the Ped Egg for quite a while. It was the fabulous review on Beauty Addict that finally propelled me to my local Walgreens. This is currently priced at $9.99
Assembly of the egg is a piece of cake. Everything snaps together with ease. The inside contains a cheese grater device that is sharp yet not dangerous. It boasts that it is mild enough to use on a balloon.
I was tentative with my first use. The directions state that you have to use it on clean, dry and moisture free skin in a lengthwise motion. It took less than one minute to feel comfortable enough to "go to town" on my heels. I snuck a peek at the inside of the egg and was disappointed to not see a pound of shredded skin. I had been hoodwinked by the HSN Ped Egg hour. The models used the egg for a solid minute and opened the egg to reveal a truly horrifying amount of skin.
Of course, this made me get more rigorous and violent with the egg.
The results were still lackluster.
I was starting to believe that only truly "jacked up" heels could get that disgusting HSN result.
If I was worth my salt as a blogger, I would neglect my pedicure routine for several weeks to see if I can achieve the true horror of the egg.
Last night while watching CNN, I whipped out the egg again.
I thought that it would fruitless.
To my surprise, there was a little too much skin in the egg for my liking.
It was not horrific but enough to not write the product off.
This morning I woke to aching heels that felt like a baby's bottom.
What are you thoughts on the Ped Egg? Is it hype or a miracle?

I bought the PedEgg hoping for miraculous results and was disappointed. I got better results from a foot file with half the effort. Also, a few days after using the PedEgg, I noticed that my heels had developed jagged ruts that needed to be taken care of with a foot file. Looks like the PedEgg is as much of a scam as Kinoki Foot Pads!
I wouldn't call it a miracle product, but I do like it for working on my typical "problem" spots. It seems like a good tool to use in between pedi appointments for maintenance!
I must say I am glad I purchased my Microplane foot file (the paddle style) before the pedegg craze. I find it actually works very well and does not hurt my feet, nor does it allow me to go "overboard" with the "grating" Funny thing is, Microplane not only makes personal care items they also make cheese graters, etc. Which is basically what I'm using on my feet. Kinda gross but kinda funny at the same time.
Did not impress me at all. Diamancel foot files are soo much better, more versatile and easier to use.
I tried it once. I saw virtually nothing but then again I keep my tootsies rather buffed. Never used it again - added it my pile of useless beauty stuff.
I'll pull out the old razor blade on a stick if I must, but not this egg thing, to get salon results at home.
I've used a Diamancel for years. Yes, its pricey, but it works. Not going to bother with a PedEgg.
I've had good results with the PedEgg on my nasty dry summer heels. You actually have to be gentle - press too hard or saw too fast and your results won't be good.. It gets off all the dry callused skin but does not leave your feet smooth - you still need a file (I use my Diamancel) to get a soft smooth finish. It doesn't work on balls of feet or toes - you have to hold it flat, with the grater parallel to the floor, or the skin bits spill out. Yuck.
Like firepail, I had issues with my heels feeling jagged a couple days later but only because I neglected to use the "finishing" stick-on file after grating my callouses away.
I tested the PedEgg on my BF and since he plays hockey barefoot (it's gross, i know) it did wonders for his soles. For everyday maintenance, if you get regular pedis, it's probably overkill and not of much use.
Personally, I keep a foot file hanging in my shower and give a little scrub each morning and never have issues. But if I get lazy and let my feet go, I turn to the egg.
I have never tested it, but I 'am sure I'm going to buy it after reading these comments!
Sounds like a good thing,though it may take a while to get used to.
I always used a pumice stone,but this sound better. I am definitly going to get it.

Love it! Am an RN with feet that I am on constantly! This is so much better than user the razor............Highly recommended to anyone but diabetics! ~JT
The cheese grater contents shown on the commercial gross me out too much -- don't think I have the stomach for this one.
Since I have not tried PedEgg yet, I don't know if it's cracked up to what it's supposed to be. Trusting your reviews, please keep me posted on your results. Thanks.
EEK. This scares me, since I have an extremely sharp and somewhat dangerous kitchen microplane (though it works so well on nutmeg and hard cheese).
Like cincy I don't think I'd need this since I keep a file in the shower and scrub the parts that get toughest a little bit each day. Seems to take care of it.
I L-O-V-E the PedEgg. The key is to use it very gently and buff after to smooth out the heel. I am continually amazed at how well it is working on my dry heels.

Hmmmm...was thinking about buying a Ped Egg. Now I'm torn btwn that and the Diamancel.
Heehee! As you know from my review, I love the PedEgg. 've been plagued with the worst calluses since I was a kid, so I get that horribly gross, but still oddly fascinating, dead skin payoff every time I pop open the PedEgg. I haven't used my standby torture device, aka the foot blade, ever since.

Firepail: My heels are still in pain. I think my mini-crush was very short lived.
Question-- are any of you ladies worried about filing away the callouses you so carefully collected? I know that sounds like an odd question, but in my somewhat embarassingly extensive consideration of the subject, I've decided that I worked up callouses and dead skin in some important places -- because all of my towering heels and such require it in order to *not* pain my feet. If I had perfectly smooth baby-soft feet again, I'm thinking I'll have to work my way up to wearing some of my fave shoes again. Thoughts?
This blog is related to Ped Egg that this is an awesome. When I applied this my feet looks smooth. I recommend that this is the best cream to apply.
