Chanel Fall 2008 Collection (a late recap...)
I stopped by my local Chanel counter to finally peek at the fall collection created by Peter Philips. This was his first full collection for Chanel. The cosmetic visionary did not disappoint. The influence of his collection was the apartments of Coco Chanel. It is a color palette of golds, taupes and gemstones. The standouts for me are Kaleidoscope nail polish and Delight glossimer. Delight takes my new found love of lavender and adds a truckload of shimmer.
I have already raved over Rose Dust but have failed to proclaim my love for Almond. This is a shimmery beige shade. The shimmer factor is fairly high, which is how I like it.
The new issue of Vogue has a fabulous blurb on Chanel's Peter Phillips. Sarah Brown gives us the lowdown on his beauty roots and the contents of his studio.

There are jars of pure powder pigment, the sort a painter would use("This was for a McQueen show. We did the boys in Yves Klein Blue," he says, producing a container of the deepest lapis);Swarovski glitter that looks destined for the most fantastic birthday cake;bits of couture-issue tulle and lengths of intricate lace from Lesage;a large envelope containing the finest Lemarie feathers and a half empty bottle labeled LIQUID TRANSPIRATION.
Mr Philips has nothing specific in store for us. He plans to have no plan. However he is willing to shake things up while offering handy palettes and tools.
Which brings us to the subject of holiday collections. I have not been privy to any sneak peeks but Chanel. There are photos floating around on the blogshere.
The theme is smoke and the palettes are useful and heavenly at the same time.
Peter will be responsible for many holiday lemmings.

Hi Annie, Did you buy anything?
Have you seen the new Chanel Exceptionnel collection? Check out the Smokey Eyes quad!

I bought the Delight glossimer and Kaleidoscope. I have been all over the glossimer...but have yet to use the nail polish. I am saving it for fall.
I must have all those smoky eye products! My local Chanel SA let us peek in the book and I lost my mind. Fall is going to be very expensive for me.
You know, I *really* love Kaleidoscope, but I'm stumped about Fantastic. There is absolutely nothing 'fantastic' about Fantastic! They should have named it, "Bland Berry Creme #4567".
In Japan I saw the smokey eyes quad and the liner duo--pretty great looking stuff. My friend caved on the quad, I am just glad I didn't try it, because I know what would have happened, lol.
I am lemming Kaleidoscope.
Annie--have you seen Mink&Sable from the Mac Starflash collection? it has your name on it ;)
I got an email from Chanel two weeks ago about the new Exceptionnel collection and I think I am even more in love with Chanel because of it. I must have the entire collection. The smokey eyes quad, the mascara, the liner duo, the shadow singles, all of it. I love the current collection its beautiful, but who doesn't go nuts for anything that mentions "smokey eyes".
What is that gorgeous golden orb in the top middle of the picture!?!?!
Those nail polishes look exquisite.
I caved on celestial dusk & it's gorgeous, the taupe is nicely pigmented and the white is sheer & ever so slightly opalescent. Also caved on kaleidoscope, saving it for fall natch.
I love your blog :)
Here in Australia we've got both collections going on at once! One department store (Myers) has released the Fall Collection (I caved in at the gold nailpolish after swearing up and down that I will never, ever, ever buy another Chanel n/p ever in my life ever again!) and for my friend's 40th birthday the gold n/p and the gold domed highlighter (which now I'm thinking of keeping for myself! Do I or don't I??).
The other department store (David Jones) has the Chanel Exceptionnel collection. I can proudly say that I did not cave anything from that as the quads reminds me of last year's Fall MAC quads (smokey something or rather).
