Chanel Fall 2008 Couture

I know that the reviews have been fairly mixed but I was blown away by the details. Mr Lagerfeld was influenced by pipe organs. There were gauze tubes and the most lovely pins (pictured to the right) I have ever seen. But the most incredible piece was the hood full of roses. It was so lovely it hurt.

Wow! I'm so amazed at that hood. Actually all of the pictures are impressive. I think some people forget that Couture fashion is "Wearable Art" It's not something you throw on to pick up the kids at soccer practice or pick up a quart of milk at 2 in the morning. Eventually some of the "flavor" of the couture garments to trickle down to the ready to wear collection but obviously with a more subtle touch. This new collection is SO impressive! Thank you very much for the review & photos!

I love that rose-bordered hoodie. Is it wrong that I hope that this look gets knocked off by Banana Republic or Target for Fall? LOL! Heck, I'd really like to see someone on etsy.com start making them. There are some incredible handmade fabric flowers on there. I suppose we could buy our own to attach to a jacket and save a lot of $$$.

Looks like Karl was watching a few episodes of Project Runway and copied the beading style of Laura Bennett. The gauze tubes look like tampons. I think he hates women. The roses are lovely, but not particularly original.

OK originality aside...things don't necessarily need to be new to be beautiful. And I do think that even though the idea of cloth roses may not be original, the way they are used here is. I love that they're in that chic dove gray, as opposed to something more obvious like red or white or even black. And they're on a hooded dress. If I could afford it, I'd find somewhere to wear that! Heck I'd even throw it on to go grocery shopping!
