I don't know - I can appreciate it on the runway, but it just isn't happening as a work (unless you're in fashion or a full time goth) or even really a day look. The lancome duo-look ltd edition seems the only possible real-world wearable black - assuming, of course, it remotely looks like the promo photo.
Oh Damn. That would look horrible on me.....so why am I lemming SO BAD?!?!
Eh, I can't even really appreciate this as a runway look. A black lip looks very mannequin-y, especially with the way everyone has doing their models' hair.
Yay! i just bought one on pre-order. Thanks for the post. Do you have any idea when the Lancome set will be available on their site?
I agree with Anon - my boss would kill me if I showed up to work in the YSL gloss. However, I think I could make the Lancome gloss work... *crosses fingers*
i love make-up, fashion, perfume, but not black lip gloss!! I don't care how many fashion magazines, blogs, lemmings deam it the "hOT NEW THING"

Love the Velvet Underground lyric in your title..:)
I think it looks cool, but is this really selling, and who is buying it? The goth girls? I don't mean that in a bad way or anything (to each her own), but for the majority of the population, this just isn't practical. I would maybe consider wearing an ~almost~ black that is very sheer and has a hint of mauve or red in it.
Living in London, guarantee we'll be seeing many fashion PRs wearing this! It's sort of cool to live there as you get to see runway looks translated right to the street.
How would you tone it down for the pub though? Could you? I just can't see it working in a the context of regular life for most people. That said, I'm willing to try any look once!
I'm sorry, but this lipgloss is uuuuuuugly! I find it hilarious that Lancome is trying to whip up their lemming frenzy over their own black gloss.
Today is "My Favorite Beauty Blogs" on Beauty Monday at my blog -- and I had to list yours. I have been reading it for so long and get such good information :) Thanks again for always posting such thoughtful and informative posts :)
I could wear it, not that I'm interested. I am NC45 in MAC and can carry those dark lippies quite well, and those darker than I will look great in a black lippie.
I love love the YSL bowl cuts on the models. If I could pull it off I definitely would do it. if only I didnt have curly hair...
