NYC Trip Review: Poppy King's Medieval Lippie
I always make a point to visit a Poppy King counter while I am in NYC. She is a personal hero of mine.
She created a lipstick empire.
From the goth girl packaging to the quality lippie formula, it is all genius and fun.
The latest from the mind of Miss King is Medieval. This is a red tinted treatment inspired by the look of lips in medieval art. The women used lemon to sting their lips to look flushed and blood red. Poppy King eliminates the zing of a lemon and instead gives us just a sheer pigment with vitamin E.
The texture is soothing and surprisingly creamy. This lippie delivers a rich yet sheer shade of red. Color delivery depends on your lip pigment along with your application. Layering delivers richer more noticeable results. The bonus of this lippie is that it keeps lips hydrated and flake free. Plus it leaves no messes or trails.
It retails for $20 and is available at Barneys and Henri Bendels.
Poppy King will be reading "lips" this Saturday(November 15th 2008) at Barneys in NYC. Call and make an appointment at 212-833-2017.
If you attend please tell her that we would love for her to make a glittery gloss.
Pretty please.
Lots of glitter, sprinkles and shine.

How I would love to have her read my lips! I envy anyone in NYC who is going out to see her -- have a wonderful time!
I LOVE Medieval. The texture is fantastic and I love that it's such a vibrant red in the tube yet so subtle and pretty on my lips. It hasn't left my purse since I got it.
I met Poppy last time she was in NYC for lip reading. Looking forward to seeing her again tomorrow!
I adore Poppy and went to one of her "lip readings" at Bendels a couple of months back. She's such an inspiration!
Aren't her pot glosses rather glittery? I checked them out in a store yesterday and was mildly taken aback by how disco-y they were. :)
The packaging is gorgeous!
this is an interesting lipstick. i'd love to see it with more glitters and shimmers like you!
love your blog as always!
Annie, hi! I went to see Poppy and she was amazing =) I hauled like crazy, and she autographed her book for me! And she even sang part of the "Josie and the Pussycats" theme song for me! BTW, a couple of her Shine glosses do have glitter, but the particles are very fine.

just ordered black tie optional. so excited for it to arrive.
I was at a local boutique earlier this week looking for exactly this product (along with the Oxymoron Matte Gloss). Turns out, they were sold out of the Medieval Lip Tint but I did manage to pick up the Matte Gloss in Free Ride and Minor Crisis. I wish I had been able to get the Lip Treatment instead. :-/
I've love to try this very much. Do you know if there is carmine in the ingredients list? None of the stores carrying her line are near my area, so I'd have to get it online but I haven't found an ingredients list yet.
