Serge Noire by Serge Lutens
I am generally a fan of anything from the house of Lutens.
I own many including two precious bell jars.
So it brings me great pain to diss Noire.
This fragrance is quite foul. And not a grand and interesting foul like Tubéreuse Criminelle.
I hate comparing this scent to body odor. It always feels like a cop-out or a simplistic description.
But it is pure BO on a hot sweltering day.
It has all the notes I love from leather to smoke. But that opening note just sinks into your nose and just makes it wrinkle like Samantha Stephens in disgust.
It is available at Barneys and Aedes and is priced at $140.

mmm... I'll have to check it out again. The first time I smelled it, it reminded me of the smell of a fireplace with burning wood.. and usually I can smell BO from a continent away... :-)
nice review.. thanks
sorry, have to respectfully disagree - this smells great on me. spicy and warm. ah, chemistry. I wish I had a whole bottle of this!
Okay, so a little silly, but i'm totally the kind of person that has to match perfume with my look. So i like the idea of taking my makeup and perfume to my stylist so that she can help me do my look. MarioTricoci has great spa gift cards :)
I have never smelled this but I am amazed how different a fragrance can smell on different people. You think it smells like BO. Anon thinks it smells great. Fragrance is truly individual, isn't it?!
