Lash Stiletto Ultimate Length Washable Mascara

This is the latest mascara offering from Maybelline. The advertisments and packaging really play up the stiletto reference. The mascara packaging is a narrow black tube with a thin red sole. It is very Louboutin inspired and quite clever. It stands straight and does not topple over. You think that practicality in design is not appreciated in cosmetics, but many makeup users love when their products do not wobble like a weeble.
The mascara formula promises provocative length with black patent leather shine. The traditional bristle brush is fairly well spaced and not dense. It grabs each lash and excels at seperation. My lashes had improved length but were not shiny. It was more of a matte soot. It lasted all day with no mess. I had no smudges or flakes.
The mascara comes in three shades: Very Black, Brownish Black and Soft Black. It retails for $8.95 and is available at your local drugstore.

"Matte soot." Brilliant description and I suspect a lemming-killer after the promise of patent leather. Don't they test these things?
I'm not sold on Maybelline mascaras. They seem to do fine in the lengthening department (and in a certain infamous instance, the smudge department) but fail at creating volume. Even though I won't buy this and would choose the shoes over the tube any day of the week, I have to give props for the slickly ingenious campaign.
I did not even realize my lashes were supposed to have a shine until I really paid attention to the commercial. Ha!
Now I am rather disappointed.
I agree w/ the previous comment. Good advertising, but the product doesn't follow through! I would love to have my lashes look patent leather for those nights out. That would be killer!

I will most likely try Stiletto Lash, but I'm just is happy with
their Great Lash mascara!
I'm looking for length but I couldn't care less about shine, so I guess this could be in the running. Out of curiosity- which color did you try? Would any of the others be "shinier"?

Amanda: I tried Very Black.
It gives pretty good length & volume and above average seperation. Serious high marks for the fringe! I thought it was a great mascara actually. It is 1000times better than CoverGirl and on par with Max Factor(a personal favorite of mine).
