A New Primer To Love

Review of MUFE UV Prime SPF 50/PA+++ Primer

Make Up For Ever(MUFE) has a fairly new primer that boasts a SPF 50 that is oil free and hydrating. Strangely...the SPF is what sold me. I skip SPF since it appears in low doses in my foundation. This was clearly a mistake on my part. I have struggled with new freckles this year.

This primer contains 9.6% Titanium Dioxide and Octonixate. It brightens your skin on contact. I was 2-3 shades paler without looking pasty or ghost-like. The texture feels like a light moisturizing cream. It leaves skin fairly hydrated with no silicon aftermath. I found that using it along with a moisturizer was too heavy. My best results were using it solo. My foundation and blush stayed put and fresh during the entire work day. Touch ups were less needed. My pores did not appear smaller but no foundation caked or settled into them. I have experienced no break outs or any skin irritations. It is just a win-win product.
This primer is currently available at Sephora. It retails for $30.

I tried the Kanebo Sensai foundation a few months ago, based upon the glowing reviews here and on MUA, and I absolutely love it! I've just ordered the primer, and am waiting anxiously for my goodies in the mail :) I am just curious... was there something that eventually turned you off of the Kanebo?

The Kanebo foundation is pretty fabulous.

I am currently struggling with skin issues. I went from oily skin to skin that is semi-dry. Sometimes moisturizers are too heavy. Primers resist. Lines are getting deeper. Makeup is becoming too harsh and settling into crevices.
Yet... I need coverage.

So I am on the hunt for a foundation and primer that make my skin look hydrated and fresh. I love La Mer, Kanebo and Jill Stuart. I also love the Carmindy and the MUFE High Definition....yet I am still looking for the one that will change my life. Not one is 100% perfection...but some are closer than others.

I do like this MUFE primer! I love the high SPF without that stinkin oily feel. Plus the price is insanely good for all the benefits you get.

Thanks for the review. I've been waiting to get this. Gonna buy it soon.

Just curious, what moisturizer did you try this with?

Anon: I used MAC and La Mer moisturizers. It works better without anything IMHO. It really is very hydrating.

I have used Jill Stuart and La Mer foundation with this primer so far. I have not tried the Kanebo yet. I am currently out of MUFE High Definition foundation.

I too bought the Kanebo Sensai foundation after reading about it here, and I do love it, but I have to say that the new Dior foundation that I bought just before I found the Kanebo, might be my favorite. Granted I haven't tried the La Mer one yet. I am thrilled to read about this primer, though. I was about to buy a Peter THomas Roth Uber Dry sunscreen, which is spf 30, when I read about this primer. IMO, a primer with sunscreen is perfect. Here's my question though -- do you think that the hot weather will make your foundation slide off your face with this as a primer? Just how hydrating is it?

Thank you for the review! I'm always looking for new primers since none of them seem to work on my oily skin - I've tried Lorac, Smashbox, Bare Escentuals and Laura Mercier without much success. I'll have to try the MUFE out. :)

Would you say this is better than the DiorSnow UV SPF 50 primer?
